NBA Coach Turns Into Liberal Snowflake With Sick Attempt at Trashing Trump

Share

Just as the NFL wraps up a 2017 season marred by endless controversy over millionaire players lacking the grade-school courtesy to respect their country’s national anthem, Americans might have thought they were going to get a break from stars in the world of sports pontificating about politics.

But now one of the biggest names in the NBA – the coach of the 2017 championship team — is making it clear the country can expect more of the same through the next NBA championships in June.

And the snowflakes are melting fast, too.

In an interview with USA Today published Friday, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr staged a full-court press for liberals and trashing President Donald Trump in the process.

Kerr’s not just an expert on the finer points of hoops, you see. He can lecture on constitutional law, immigration, journalism, and all kinds of topics that are outside the bounds of basketball.

The interview’s introductory paragraphs made it clear for readers where this going from the beginning:

“The 52-year-old former player has been loud in his opposition to President Trump, one reason the team won’t make a customary visit to the White House to be recognized for its 2017 NBA championship. The logical time would be late February, when they play the Washington Wizards. After criticism from Kerr and players, Trump in late September preemptively uninvited them.”

OK, so Kerr doesn’t like Trump, nothing new about that. In an interview with a Sports Illustrated writer in May, he called the president a “blowhard” who’s “ill-suited” to hold the office.”

But now he’s seeing an “assault on our institutions and on our core values as a country” as a result of the Trump administration.

He cited a column published in mid-December in USA Today by former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, the woman who was fired from her job at the Justice Department in January for ordering underlings not to defend Trump’s first “travel ban” on immigrants from terror-prone countries.

“She tweeted the preamble to the Constitution, which really sums up our country. And all those things are kind of under attack right now. One of the things she writes is how important it is to speak the truth, and for people to not be deceived, coerced,” Kerr said. “That’s the entire reasoning behind the structure of our government, you know? Checks and balances.”

That would be fine if it were what liberals really believed – and it’s a good chance Kerr knows good and well that it’s not. And that’s what makes his attempt to say otherwise so ludicrous, maybe even sick.

Some responses on Twitter were dead on.

The reason Donald Trump was elected to the presidency in 2016 is that millions of Americans understood that they have not been told the truth – by liberals in the government, by the overwhelmingly Democrat-supporting mainstream media, and, most unfortunately, by some prominent members of the Republican Party.

As much as the mainstream media and Democrats try to pretend otherwise, it’s not the Trump supporters that are putting the country’s institutions “under attack.”

It’s that the country’s institutions – checks and balances, the free press, the independent judiciary, law enforcement, the constitutional principles of federalism and states’ rights – have been under attack so relentlessly and for so long that it’s come to be seen as the norm.

What the Trump victory in 2016 accomplished was a reminder that ordinary Americans, who care about the freedom the country was built on, are capable of resisting the statism boosted by the neo-fascists of the new left, and their increasing power in the Democrat Party.

Kerr, Yates and the entire liberal-media-industrial complex have it exactly backwards. It isn’t Trump and his supporters that put America “under attack.” It was the legacy of the Obama presidency that did, and would have continued under — God forbid — Hillary Clinton as his successor.

America made it through the NFL regular season with its anthem kneelers. It will make it through the NBA’s season with its grandstanding showboats like Steve Kerr and LeBron James.

Because thanks to Trump in the White House, the snowflakes are — for now — still out in the cold.

But the bleat goes on.
