Musician Booted from Rock Legend's Tour and Facebook After Wearing 'MAGA' Hat
“America’s Got Talent” alum Benton Blount was temporarily suspended from Facebook and booted from ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons’ concert tour after posting a picture on Facebook in which he’s wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
Blount, who often shares political memes on Facebook, posted a picture of himself with the Donald Trump hat, an “I Voted” sticker and a Chick-Fil-A meal.
The now-removed post was captioned, “Someone reading this just got offended multiple times. My work here is done! #Vote.”
I was just banned on @facebook for 24 for posting this picture. No bias on social media at all. pic.twitter.com/fPd05IoG6m

Apparently, Blount was right. Facebook was offended enough to take down the post and temporarily suspend him, he said.
“That was pulled down from Facebook for some reason because it violated their standards. So I had to wait 24 hours, and I got back out of jail. I got back out of Facebook jail,” Blount said in a Facebook live video.
There was nothing even remotely offensive about Blount’s post, unless there’s some new law banning chicken sandwiches and “MAGA” hats.
Apparently, the humorous political post also offended Gibbons’ management, as Blount was kicked off the tour.
“Drove down here from Greenville, South Carolina, to the venue” in Atlanta, Blount said in his Facebook video. “I get a call from my friend from California who informs me that not only have I been banned from Facebook but as a result of being banned from Facebook I was pulled off of the Billy Gibbons tour, effective immediately.”
Gibbons’ management failed to give Blount any reason for his removal, according to Fox News.
“I thought that it would be OK for me to post that I voted. I thought that it would be OK for me to say who I supported,” Blount said on Facebook.
It’s hard to imagine his being banned from Facebook or losing a gig if he indicated he voted for Democrats rather than supporting President Trump.
“I had a ‘MAGA’ hat on. For that reason, and that reason alone … my career is on hold for the week,” Blount said.
He was scheduled to perform seven times on Gibbons’ tour but was only able to complete four before he got the boot.
Now Blount and his crew are going to miss out on a great opportunity because of a harmless “MAGA” hat.
