Mob Mentality: Alec Baldwin Calls for 'Lawful' Overthrow of Donald Trump

Share

Nearly two years after he was first elected to the White House, there are plenty of Americans on the ideological left who simply cannot or will not accept the fact that Donald Trump is president and failed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is not.

Over those two years, we have seen the laughable assertions from anti-Trump liberals that Trump is “Not my president,” and we have seen congressional Democrats obstruct and resist virtually every single move made by the president, whether it goes against their agenda or actually achieves things they previously had called for.

We’ve also seen calls for harassment and violence toward Trump and his supporters and cabinet members — here’s looking at you, Democrat California Rep. Maxine Waters — and calls for continued incivility by the left until Democrats reclaim political power — we know exactly what you meant, Hillary.

Now, a celebrity Hollywood leftist is literally calling for sedition and treason against the duly elected president and his administration. Fox News reported that washed-up liberal actor Alec Baldwin — whose dwindling career was granted a brief reprieve and breath of life solely because of his ridiculously bad Trump impersonation — on Sunday called for an “overthrow” of the U.S. government to get rid of Trump.

Speaking as an honored guest at a major fundraising dinner for the New Hampshire Democratic Party, Baldwin said, “In an orderly and formal way, and lawful way, we need to overthrow the government of the United States under Donald Trump.”

According to a quick Google search for definitions, “Sedition” is generally defined as “conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch,” while “treason” is also defined as “the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.”

Baldwin’s remarks could fit both of those definitions, as he is inciting liberals to “rebel against the authority” of a sitting president and is urging them to “overthrow the government.”

But Baldwin wasn’t finished firing up the liberal crowd with his seditious and treasonous talk, as he implored them to turn out to the polls for the next two national elections because “this election and the one that follows in 2020 will be the most consequential elections since the election of FDR.”

The elections will indeed be consequential, for both parties, as one side wants to undo the damage of the past and make America great again, while the other seeks to take us right back to the tried and failed policies of the past.

Do you think Alec Baldwin should be held accountable for his urging of sedition and treason against our duly elected government?

Baldwin repeated: “It is time to overthrow the government of Donald Trump — not in a violent way or unlawful way — but it must be overthrown nonetheless.”

Violent or non-violent, it doesn’t matter … overthrowing a government is an act of treason, and encouraging others to rebel against a lawful authority is an act of sedition. Disagreeing strenuously on agenda and policy is one thing — and might even be a good thing — but seeking to oust a legitimately elected leader through any means other than the ballot box is simply anti-American.

The anti-Trump actor also attempted — and failed — to use humor in his rant against the president, as he said, “Let’s make America great again by making Donald Trump a casino operator again.”

Perhaps the reason Baldwin is calling for a literal coup d’etat against the sitting president is because he doesn’t think any of the likely Democratic challengers in 2020 have any hope of defeating Trump in the election, which may or may not have accidentally slipped out when Baldwin spoke with reporters following his speech to New Hampshire Democrats.

Baldwin said, “I’m hoping that someone that isn’t necessarily, clearly on the horizon right now, would materialize, because I don’t think anybody that’s a frontrunner now — of the top six, seven, eight names that I’ve seen — I don’t think any of them is going to have an easy time of it.”

So, he wants to just “overthrow” Trump instead?

This is by definition the “mob mentality” that many on the right have been talking about and media outlets on the left refuse to recognize.

Actual mobs of angry leftists — openly encouraged by famous angry leftists with a platform and voice — still upset over an election that didn’t go their way seeking to use abnormal, even violent, means to rid the nation of a lawfully elected leader that they don’t like.
