#MeToo Dems Cheer as Accused Woman Abuser Easily Wins Election
For a party that claims to be fully supportive of women, the Democrat Party sure seems to be hypocritical when it comes to electing officials.
According to Democrats.org and the Democrat Party platform, Democrats “are committed to ensuring full equality for women. Democrats will fight to end gender discrimination in the areas of education, employment, health care, or any other sphere. We will combat biases across economic, political, and social life that hold women back and limit their opportunities.”
Getting beat up would probably limit a woman’s opportunities, wouldn’t it?
The website continues: “The Democratic Party and women share common values and priorities, including supporting our families, protecting our country, and advancing the issues that matter most to women of all ages and ethnicities.”
Arguably, a priority that strongly matters to women of all ages and ethnicities is their ability to be safe and respected in their relationships, and to know their abusers will face severe justice if that safety and respect is violated.
But Democrats seem to have neglected to consider this issue as they celebrate the election win of an accused domestic abuser.
Keith Ellison, the vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee, easily won the attorney general nomination for the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party on Tuesday, and Democrats everywhere were thrilled.

Ellison may claim in his campaign platform to “defend the rights and freedoms of all Minnesotans,” but his past actions involving his ex-girlfriend Karen Monahan tell a completely different story.
Monahan’s son Austin accused Ellison of abusing his mother in a lengthy Facebook post on Saturday night, saying that he had seen a video on his mother’s computer of Ellison dragging his mother off a bed by her feet and screaming obscenities at her.
Austin also wrote that he had seen “message after message” from Ellison bullying Monahan into keeping quiet about what he had done.
Monahan herself told Minnesota Public Radio that she met with Ellison when he filed to run for attorney general, and in that meeting he told her that he was worried their former relationship could ruin his career. She told MPR that she said, “Keith, I’m not the one who is ruining your career. You’re the one that chose to put your hands on me. You’re the one who chose to drag me off the bed. You’re the one who chose to gaslight me and manipulate me.”
According to Austin’s post, others knew what his mom had gone through at Ellison’s hands and did absolutely nothing about it.
“We watched her so called political friends stand by say or do nothing. People had an idea what happened and never reached out to my mom,” the young man wrote. “The same people who are posting about social justice are ready to smear my mom, protect a person who abused her and broke the law.”
Allegedly, the texts and messages from Ellison that Austin saw also gave him cause to believe the politician has other domestic abuse victims out there.
“There is a lot more he has done to my mom and others that we saw in the text but our mom can decide if and when she wants to tell the world that part.”
So far, Monahan has admitted the video does exist but has not made it public, and is upset that she has felt pressured to do so to prove her credibility.
“I do think that asking a victim to produce proof of abuse is rather abusive in and of itself, although I understand people want to know what the truth is, obviously,” she said.
Ellison vehemently denied the allegations as the election drew near, saying that he has done nothing wrong. “This video does not exist because I never behaved in this way, and any characterization otherwise is false,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
All things considered, these accusations certainly don’t paint the Democrat candidate — or his party — in a favorable light.
In their official stance on women’s issues, Democrats.org says, “Democrats continue to fight to expand opportunity for women. By confronting violence against women, fighting for workplace equality, pushing for pro-family policies like paid family leave, and defending a woman’s right to control her own body, Democrats will make sure that women thrive in our country, because we know that when women succeed, America succeeds.”
It sure doesn’t seem like Democrats are succeeding very well in “confronting violence against women” when it threatens a member of their own party. Austin Monahan would agree.
“I use to believe the Democrats were the ones who would stand by a person who went through this kind of abuse,” the teen wrote.
He should know better now. And so should the rest of the country.
