Maxine Waters Goes off the Deep End, Publicly Calls Trump 'Embarrassing UnAmerican Traitor'

Share

With friends like these, Joe Biden needs help — badly.

In a paroxysm of social media outrage so exaggerated that her spit practically comes through the computer screen, U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters took to Twitter this week to attack President Donald Trump as an “embarrassing unAmerican traitor.”

But as is usually the way with Waters, all she ended up embarrassing was herself.

Previously best known for incessant calls for Trump’s impeachment and demanding mob violence against members of his administration, California’s most excitable congresswoman was set off this time by a Trump tweet making fun of former Vice President Biden, the clear front-runner in the Democrats’ clown car of contenders for the 2020 nomination.

While on his visit to Japan last week, Trump commented on North Korean missile testing in early May, making it clear he didn’t think the activity was a serious threat.

Naturally, Waters didn’t take the crack about Biden well at all.

First of all, denouncing and belittling Joe Biden is a fairly easy thing to do for anyone who can read, watch television or fog a mirror while in bed. The guy who’s supported by frightening numbers of Democrats for the presidency has spent decades building a reputation for sticking his foot in his mouth.

Do you think Maxine Waters is embarrassing herself?

(And placing his hands where they don’t belong either.)

And second of all, as Trump pointed out in a Twitter post mocking the Democrats’ fake outrage at the original post, what he said wasn’t nearly as bad as what North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un had called Biden.

And that’s when Waters’ frothing really got going.

That’s quite a string of insults for a woman whose party hasn’t exactly covered itself with glory when it comes to presidents and presidential contenders.

Its previous presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, beat an FBI investigation of her email use as secretary of state only because the intelligence community, the mainstream television networks, countless newspaper editorial boards and just about every other bastion of legal and cultural power were on her side.

She still lost where it mattered – with the American people at the ballot box.

The previous president, Barack Obama, was actually the kind of autocrat Democrats accuse Trump of being. He spied on the media, used executive actions to try to shred the Constitution and weaponized federal agencies such as the IRS against American citizens. Like Hillary Clinton, he got a pass for all his scandals because he had a “D” after his name.

And a disgracefully lickspittle press corps carried his water for eight years.

As for the Democratic president before that, fella who was also named Clinton, he was the guy impeached for actually committing a crime that he was guilty of. (Not that Democrats really give a damn about legal niceties, then or now.)

Naturally, Waters’ tweet-storm drew its own response (though none make the reader feel like reaching for a handkerchief to wipe away the saliva).

It does sound strange, but in the American political world of 2019, crazed congresswomen from California feel no compunction about making public spectacles of themselves to defend the buffoon who could well be the next Democratic nominee for president.

Because a president known for insulting his political foes decided to do it again.

It’s going to be a long year in any case, but with friends like these, Joe Biden’s going to need even more help from the media than usual.
