Limbaugh Lays Out Real Reason Media Is Gushing Praise over McCain
Conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh has millions of fans and millions of critics, but one thing they should all agree on is that his mind often works in a way that lets him see things many people often overlook.
Often controversial, sometimes outlandish, but always insightful, Limbaugh recently set his sights on the far-left media’s recent fawning over the passing of Arizona Sen. John McCain.
Now, to be clear, respect and deference for someone who just passed away is one thing.
But the media’s fervor in their praise for McCain began to raise a few eyebrows, and Limbaugh quickly pounced on the reason.
“The death of Senator McCain has provided an opportunity for the drive-by media. I will explain that. I’m gonna warn everybody here. It might be perceived by some — that just don’t know — but it might be perceived by some that comments I might make about some aspects of Senator McCain’s life could be controversial. Imagine that,” Limbaugh said on his radio show Monday.
“I just want to prep everybody that I have my own theories about witnessing the drive-bys and how they are reacting to it and why.”
Anyone who’s even glanced at cable news in the past few days has undoubtedly noticed the sheer volume of coverage the far-left media was giving McCain, despite lampooning him savagely as recently as 2008 when McCain was running for president against Barack Obama.
Limbaugh then cut to a clip of CNN anchor Jake Tapper, and it really made a strong statement all on its own.
“I can’t help but think that like part of the reason why there’s such reverence for him today is because of who’s in the White House right now because they are polar opposites,” Tapper said in the clip Limbaugh played.
“Okay. So there you have it from none other than the Never Trumper Network, CNN, making it clear that part of the reason why there’s so much reverence for Senator McCain is because of who is in the White House right now,” Limbaugh noted.
When you slow down and think about it, it’s actually rather despicable.
Regardless of how you feel about McCain, it’s pathetic and disgusting that the far-left media has all but admitted to weaponizing a man’s death to attack Trump.
That’s not news. That’s propaganda.
“What that means is — and he’s admitting it. He’s admitting it — one of the reasons there’s reverence for McCain is the opportunity it provides to continue to savage Donald Trump, to continue to rip Donald Trump by setting up these comparisons between Trump and McCain and showing Trump coming up short on virtually every measure the drive-bys make,” Limbaugh continued.
Limbaugh pointed out that the liberal hypocrisy with McCain didn’t start with his death. Many of the same media figures, and certainly the same news organizations, had treated McCain shabbily in the past when it suited their purposes.
“The people who had made him think they respected him, made him believe they loved him, cast him aside” as soon as Obama entered the picture in 2008, Limbaugh said.
In other words, the media used McCain when they needed him as a relatively bipartisan politician — to criticize Republicans during the George W. Bush presidency. As soon as new media darling Obama entered the picture, they vilified McCain during the 2008 race.
And now, with his death being a perfect political foil to Trump, the media is loving him again.
If that’s not the “fake news” that Trump is always railing about, nothing is.
