Lesbian Feminist Defies Libs, Begs Conservatives for Help Fighting 'Devastating' Trans Movement
In a rare event from conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation, a lesbian feminist harshly criticized the transgender movement and its negative impact on women.
“You might be thinking to yourself, ‘Why is a lesbian speaking at the Heritage Foundation?’ And I ask myself the same thing,” said Julia Beck, a writer and activist in Baltimore who has courted hostility among the left for being her willingness to take on the transgender movement.
“But my answer is pretty simple: There is no place for me. I am politically homeless.”
Beck joined a panel about gender organized Monday by The Heritage Foundation to discuss the problems she’s seen from the transgender movement.
As a lesbian feminist, she opposes the transgender movement primarily because of its negative effects on women. That hasn’t won her friends among liberals, of course. A piece she wrote for the lesbian website AfterEllen in December was headlined “How I became the most hated lesbian in Baltimore.”
Her primary example Monday was the case of Stephen Wood, a male convicted rapist in the United Kingdom who identifies as a lesbian woman.
The “transgender lesbian” was sent to an women’s prison, where he was accused of sexually assaulting female inmates.
Wood is also a convicted pedophile and the women’s prison had a mother-and-baby unit for infants aged under 2.
The transgender rapist was eventually moved to a male prison, but he shouldn’t have been in a female prison to begin with.
Beck slammed her fellow leftists as “illogical” for not being skeptical of men who claim to be women.
“The completely illogical statement that transwomen are women is recited like a ‘Big Brother’ mantra in every leftist space,” Beck said.
Beck dared to challenge the left’s trans agenda, which, she said, resulted in her removal from the Baltimore mayor’s LGBTQ Commission.
She was humiliated by other members of the commission in an “emergency meeting” because she was “transphobic.”
But she’s not going to let her estranged relationship with the left stop her message.
Beck argues that by using “gender” tomuddle the reality of sex, progress against true sexual exploitation is being undermined.
“Sex is a biological reality, it’s not a dirty word. It refers to the two reproductive classes in our species,” she said.
“To deny this fact means we are unable to name, address, and fix systemic, sex-based oppression and exploitation.”
In an emotional closing, Beck called on the audience to help fight the transgender movement.
“We are losing an entire generation of sisters to this madness. That’s why it’s personal. It’s infuriating. It’s devastating. And I have had enough,” Beck said.
“I’m here because I care about women and I expect that you do too.”
The effects of the transgender movement have been disastrous, and even liberals are starting to realize it.
