Leftists Begin Disgusting Politicization of George HW Bush's Death Just Hours Later

Share

Conservatives, Republicans, liberals and Democrats have largely been respectful in the wake of George H.W. Bush’s death Friday at age 94.

I’m not entirely sure what it says about the state of America in 2018 that it takes the passing of a former president to bring about some modicum of unity, but it’s certainly preferable to the alternative.

But there is one growing sect of America that opted for a different take on Bush’s death, one involves decidedly less decorum.

That group would be leftists. While leftists and liberals have largely been considered one and the same, there are key differences. Take, for example, the issue of free speech.

“I disagree with what you have to say but I will defend to the death your right to say it” is a tenet embraced by liberals. Leftists, meanwhile, seem wholly OK with eliminating any speech with which they disagree.

In that spirit, I won’t call for censorship of these leftist diatribes, but I do want to call attention to how despicable and pathetic they are.

Some leftists seized the opportunity of Bush’s death to posthumously attack his character, which is about as low as it gets.

“H.W. was a (sic) architect of the current situation, where the GOP is completely consumed by right wing nuts,” author and Salon politics writer Amanda Marcotte declared.

Yes, because the immediate aftermath of a man’s death is the perfect time to whine about people whose political ideologies conflict with your own. Marcotte’s Twitter rant raged on for a whopping 12 more posts before ending with this doozy:

“One can draw a straight line from Bush’s 1988 campaign to Trump running on the same macho posturing and racist hysterics.”

Absolutely pathetic.

As leftists are wont to do, some of them threw out the “racist” label to bash Bush.

That was alleged “anti-racism strategist” Tariq Nasheed whining about the plight of black people by calling Bush a racist. Classy. Sadly, he wasn’t alone:

Another disgusting tactic from the left was to weaponize Bush’s death to attack President Donald Trump. Look, if all you have to blast Trump is another man’s death, you might need a stronger platform to stand on.

Hey, here’s a novel idea. How about you let a man actually rest in peace before exhuming the memories of him to attack the current president? It’s truly beyond pathetic to see people bastardize the sanctity of death just to take some cheap shots at the current president.

And hey, I get it. Nobody, including Trump, should be above reproach and criticism. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to do things. Using a person whose body likely isn’t even cold yet to attack Trump is very much the wrong way.

Or the left way. Same difference.
