Kavanaugh Hires First All-Female Clerk Team, CNN Analyst Still Feels Insulted

Share

One particular adage has come to aptly described Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh confirmation process: Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

When it came to the sexual assault allegations that threatened his confirmation, Kavanaugh’s actual guilt seemed irrelevant to Democrats and far leftists. Whether he did it or not, they wanted blood.

They didn’t get it, as Kavanaugh was confirmed by a 50-48 vote on Saturday.

Even after getting sworn in, while doing and saying all the right things, Kavanaugh still can’t win.

Case in point, Kavanaugh actually kicked off his Supreme Court career with a historic move, bringing in the first-ever all-female clerk team.

Just to clarify, I trust Kavanaugh hired his clerks based on merit. I trust that he did not hire an all-female team of clerks just to say that he’s the first Supreme Court justice to ever do so.

The left? They’ve been far more cynical and critical of the move.

That’s not exactly a surprise, but it does paint a picture of how much disdain the progressives have for Kavanaugh. Considering that the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assault yielded nothing, it does seem that the far-left’s hatred for Kavanaugh is based on little else other than the fact that he was nominated by President Donald Trump.

CNN political analyst Joan Walsh echoed those far-left anti-Kavanaugh sentiments on Monday.

“I mean the female clerks,” Walsh told CNN’s Kate Bolduan on Monday. “I guess that’s great, Kate. He’s talked about that before. It felt a little bit like pandering to me. As I said before, there’s not really anything new.”

How is it pandering to hire your clerk team? Again, as I’ve stated before, I trust that Kavanaugh made his choices based on merit. It’d be downright foolish not to, considering how much work these clerks do for justices.

It’s also well in line with Kavanaugh’s record of hiring female clerks as a circuit court judge. In fact, as The New York Times reported Monday, Kavanaugh told the Senate Judiciary Committee during his confirmation hearing that he had sent more female clerks on to coveted Supreme Court clerk positions than any other federal judge.

In fact, according to The Times, six Supreme Court clerks are working for other justices now after working for Kavanaugh on the D.C. Circuit Court. Three of them are women.

Still, Walsh apparently believes that Kavanaugh would risk his reputation by deliberately not hiring the best team possible on his ascencion to the high court to send some sort of a feminist message. Never mind that that absolutely doesn’t sound like Kavanaugh at all.

“I guess it has worked,” Walsh said. “But I don’t know that it’s going to work to make women who are still upset about the treatment of Dr. Blasey Ford feel any better.”

Just in case there was any confusion, Walsh reiterated what she felt Kavanaugh was really doing.

“It felt a lot like pandering to me.”

Brett Kavanaugh just can’t win. Had he hired an all-male clerk team, he undoubtedly would’ve been skewered for misogynistic hiring practices. He does the exact opposite, and he’s still being criticized for something.

Damned if you, damned if you don’t.
