After Jeffrey Epstein Was Arrested for Sex Crimes, Pelosi's Daughter Posted Bizarre Tweet
On Sunday, financier Jeffrey Epstein was arrested for sex trafficking minors, well over a decade since a no-prosecution deal with the Department of Justice gave him a slap on the wrist for one of the most twisted sex crimes in America’s history.
It was a moment of vindication for those who have pushed for Epstein to face justice. But according to Christine Pelosi, a Democratic National Committee official and daughter House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the important thing is to realize that “some of our faves are implicated but we must follow the facts and let the chips fall where they may.”
The facts of the Epstein case are sordid. For those unfamiliar with the case, the new federal indictment claims Epstein would allegedly pay young girls, some of whom were underage, for massages and then sexually molest them. Some of those in Epstein’s inner circle, including some of the victims, would recruit other young girls.
Epstein was arrested Saturday in Teterboro, New Jersey, according to NBC News, on federal charges related to sexually trafficking underage girls between 2002 and 2005. The investigation was jointly conducted by the FBI and New York police.
The arrest comes after a controversial lenient plea deal reached with then-U.S. Attorney for Miami Alexander Acosta — who now serves as Secretary of Labor — back in 2008, which required Epstein to serve only 13 months in prison, register as a sex offender and make restitution to his victims. The deal also included a non-prosecution agreement. Epstein was possibly looking at life in prison for crimes which were essentially identical to what he’s being charged with now.
The case garnered considerable attention because Epstein had an address book filled with names of the rich and powerful. Two presidents, Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, were among them, though neither was ever implicated in the grisly aspects of Epstein’s private life.
In this spirit, Christine Pelosi tweeted about the case Saturday evening, just hours after Epstein’s arrest. I’m assuming she didn’t mean to sound so tin-eared.

“This Epstein case is horrific and the young women deserve justice,” Pelosi tweeted. “It is quite likely that some of our faves are implicated but we must follow the facts and let the chips fall where they may – whether on Republicans or Democrats.”
I have two questions for Christine Pelosi:
1) How do you know that “It is quite likely that some of our faves are implicated”? Is this a guess based on the conspiracy theories that have long surrounded this case? Do you have special information denied to the rest of us?
2) Why do you think the phrase “some of our faves” was appropriate in this context? What we’re talking about here is the rich and powerful sexually abusing underage girls recruited by an evil billionaire. Even if we’re speaking hypothetically in terms of the individuals being implicated here, I don’t think that hypothetical fave of mine would be a fave anymore. “Some of our allies” would have sufficed.

Pelosi deserved the backlash. Her tweet was tone-deaf, self-congratulatory and bizarre. I don’t think the tweet will be one of Christine Pelosi’s personal faves, although I doubt she’ll ever understand just how strange her thoughts seemed to the rest of us.
