Ilhan Omar Dares To Claim She Loves the US 'More than Anyone Who Is Naturally Born'
Minnesota freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, a lawmaker who never hesitates to whip up controversy, dropped a bizarre statement about America at Saturday’s Netroots Nation conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
During a foreign policy panel at the annual conference — a gathering for thousands of liberals to discuss progressive ideas and politics — Omar took the opportunity to downplay recent anti-Semitic remarks that landed her in hot water with individuals from both sides of the political aisle.
“Something that I get criticized for all the time. It’s not what you think, so don’t gasp,” she said to a chuckling audience.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, she then delivered a peculiar remark about the U.S. and explained how she may love it more than you and I do.
“I believe, as an immigrant, I probably love this country more than anyone that is naturally born, and because I am ashamed of it continuing to live in its hypocrisy,” she said.
You can watch Omar make the remarks in the Twitter video below.

After telling curiously quiet audience members that she likely loves America more than they do, she iced the proverbial cake by attacking our country shortly thereafter.
“We export American exceptionalism, the great America, the land of liberty, that is — you know, you ask anybody walking on the side of the street somewhere in the middle of the world, they will tell you, ‘America the great,” the lawmaker said.
“But we don’t live those values here.”
In other words, Omar, who was rescued from a Kenyan refugee camp and given the opportunity of a lifetime in America, loves this country more than you but is ashamed of it and thinks it’s full of hypocrites.
Yeah, that totally makes sense.
Can you imagine becoming a citizen of any other country, getting elected to one of the highest offices it has to offer and then having the audacity to suggest you love that nation more than the citizens who were actually born there?
Look, immigration is fantastic. Legal immigrants have made this country the greatest for hundreds of years. Despite her personality and politics, I think it’s wonderful that Omar was able to become the first Somali-American lawmaker to serve in U.S. Congress.
But it’s her consistent anti-American, anti-Semitic attitude and remarks, along with her radical progressive political ideology, that completely ruin Omar’s success story. If she values America so much, why does seemingly take pleasure in bashing it?
The primary reason she continues to bash it is because of President Donald Trump. I have to wonder if she would be making the same statements had Hillary Clinton won in 2016. Probably not.
The cornerstone of Trump’s time in office has been his undying love for America and his objective of making it great again. Because of that, politicians such as Omar — and her radical leftist “squad” — counter him by implying that this country isn’t exceptional, even though it’s better in many respects than it ever has been.
Lawmakers such as Omar and her out-of-control radical colleagues scare me. I can’t imagine how low this great nation will plummet if they’re able to stay in Congress and push through a fraction of their ultra-progressive policies.
All we can do at this point is hope and pray that in 2020, enough qualified challengers step up and take these pro-socialism lawmakers out of office.
