Hypocrisy: 'View' Host Actually Admits She Doesn't 'Care' Obama Tear Gassed Kids

Share

When U.S. Border Patrol agents utilized tear gas canisters and pepper spray balls to turn back a hundreds-strong mob of illegal immigrants from the Central American migrant caravan who attempted to rush the border on Sunday, liberals in the media lost their minds.

The defensive measures by the agents against migrants throwing rocks and bottles at them — while using women and children as human shields — were deemed to be an intolerable “atrocity” on par with “war crimes,” actions that were wholly unprecedented for the United States and more typical of a tyrannical authoritarian dictatorship, or some other such nonsensical fear-mongering pablum Trump-hating liberals like to put forward.

However, it didn’t take long before actual journalists revealed that what had happened wasn’t at all unprecedented or the acts of a tyrannical dictator, but rather was nothing more than standard operating procedure and something that had occurred dozens of times at a rate of at least once per month during former President Barack Obama’s tenure in office.

Those “stubborn facts” became part of the discussion during a segment Wednesday on ABC’s “The View,” and it would be an understatement to say that the liberal co-hosts of that program were none too pleased to have their racially charged, “Trump-hates-brown-people” narrative disrupted by an intrusion of the reality that Obama had done the same exact things.

The segment began with a skeptical co-host Whoopi Goldberg referencing a National Review article that criticized the lack of media coverage of Obama’s use of tear gas at the border to repel illegal immigrants.

An equally skeptical co-host Joy Behar asked, “Is there evidence of that?” She then referenced the viral photo of a woman and two children caught in the middle of the chaotic situation on Sunday, and asked, “Do they have a photo like that from when Obama was in office?”

Conservative-leaning co-host Meghan McCain replied, “Homeland Security data does validate that, that it happened multiple times — more than once a month, in fact — during the Obama years.”

She added, “Facts are stubborn things, guys.”

Are you surprised this liberal co-host of "The View" just openly admitted her hypocrisy?

The other conservative-leaning co-host, Abby Huntsman, chimed in to suggest that “B.S.” on both sides needed to be called out, and further suggested that all of this was coming to light solely because of “the president’s rhetoric.”

However, she then proceeded to reference a little-reported criminal incident from 2014 in which Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services had handed over a number of “unaccompanied children” to human traffickers who then enslaved those children on farms in Ohio.

That was simply too much to bear for liberal co-host Sonny Hostin, who said, “President Obama is no longer in office. President Trump is in office, and he’s destroying the country, and this ‘but Obama’ defense doesn’t work for me.”

“That’s not to say using tear gas — I think it’s immoral using tear gas against children — but ProPublica just found that the Trump administration has secretly continued to separate kids from their families,” she continued. “The Obama administration never did that.” (Except that the Obama administration did do that, as did the Bush and Clinton administrations.)

“The ACLU says that kind of separation is unprecedented, so this whole ‘but Obama did it, but Obama did it’ … I don’t care what Obama did! I care what Trump is doing right here, right now,” Hostin added.

That’s it in a nutshell. Liberals like Hostin don’t care now that the Border Patrol under Obama tear gassed migrants. The liberal media didn’t care about Obama tear gassing migrants when he was in office.

The truth is plainly that liberals only care about what happens to migrants when Trump — or any other Republican is in office. The facts of the case, the human cost, don’t matter. Only the politics of the moment.

McCain’s reply hinted at a rebuke.

“I think it’s strange to say that you don’t care it was happening before … but I’m saying the coverage didn’t even mention that this has been going since 2012.

“If you’re infuriated now, you should have been infuriated then, that’s all I’m saying,” she added.

Goldberg proceeded to rant about how she didn’t like how Obama had been the “deporter-in-chief” — a misinformed notion if there ever was one, as Obama falsely counted turnbacks at the border as “deportations,” which they aren’t — until Huntsman pointed out the hypocrisy in media coverage.

McCain then noted how she routinely concedes when Republicans do things that are considered wrong, and added, “It would be nice if my friends on the left, once in awhile, conceded that they were wrong.”

But the left very rarely ever concede that they are or were wrong about anything, especially in these “OMG Trump!” days of hyperbolic insanity, a horribly hypocritical mindset that was clearly exemplified by Hostin’s “I don’t care what Obama did” remark.

As we have seen repeatedly over the past two years, the left greatly overreact and attack Trump for every single thing that he does, even when those things were also done by Obama and other presidents in the past without a similar outraged response.

Pointing that out isn’t “whataboutism,” it is simply exposing the left’s blatant double standards for what they are and proof that such hypocrisy will no longer be quietly accepted by the right.
