Hollywood Star Seth Rogen Laughs About Trashing Paul Ryan in Front of His Kids
The left frequently pretends to stand for “tolerance” and “diversity” — yet time after time, they prove that they actually believe in neither.
Hollywood is perhaps the worst offender when it comes to this two-facedness. Entertainers see themselves as the center of the country, setting the culture for the rest of the nation, but are consistently so out of touch with everyday Americans that it would be comical if it wasn’t so pathetic.
Seth Rogan is a perfect example. The stoner comedy stalwart has built a career on playing the over-his-head everyman in movies like “Pineapple Express” and “Knocked Up,” yet is shockingly clueless about everyday America in real life.
During a recent appearance on Stephen Colbert’s increasingly leftist late-night program, Rogan told a bizarre story about interacting with people who are obviously as foreign to him as visitors from Mars: Conservatives.
Not long ago, former presidential candidate Mitt Romney called the Hollywood actor and invited him to be part of a good cause to support Alzheimer’s research. In a cringe-worthy anecdote, Rogan told Colbert that the idea of even having a conversation with — eek! — a Republican was a strange and rare occurrence for him.
“I got a phone call from Mitt Romney recently, which was a weird call to get,” Rogan declared.
“He’s not the loosest of guys, I guess you would say. And when you’re talking to him, you realize the name ‘Mitt’ is a weird name…It must be short for Mittens,” the comedian awkwardly quipped.
Hey, did you know Mitt Romney’s name is “Mitt?” Most of America is familiar with the businessman and former governor’s name since he was the Republican presidential nominee in 2012. Actually, Mitt is his middle name, and he was named after his father’s cousin. Apparently Rogan is the last to know.
The stoner comedian continued to explain that he was fine working with conservatives for a good cause, but then contradicted himself by speaking as if Republicans were a lost tribe who all spoke an unknown language.
Romney’s charity event was “a good chance to reach across the aisle, as it were,” Rogan said. “Almost all of the attendees were Republican people — and I’m OK with that, but I didn’t know how I would react, honestly, to every situation.”
Think about that for a second. He didn’t know how to react to a room full of conservatives? They’re people. You talk to them.
Rogan relayed the story as if he’s never actually met a Republican or sat down and talked to one — which is appalling, considering that at least half the entire country leans right.
It gets worse. Remember how Rogan said he saw the Romney invite as a chance to “reach across the aisle?” Apparently his idea of building bridges is being a rude jerk in front of a father and his teenage sons … at a charity event.
“At one point, two very young, white teenage men … they asked to take a picture with me. They’re maybe 16, 17. Very nice fans — clearly fans of mine,” Rogan continued telling Colbert.
The actor posed for a picture with the teenagers. “And then they said, ‘Our dad wants to meet you,’ and I turned around and Paul Ryan was walking towards me,” he revealed.
Gasp! Paul Ryan! The way Rogan tells the story, he found himself face-to-face with Adolf Hitler himself. Ryan may be a bit of an inconsistent conservative, but pretending that the clean-cut congressman from Wisconsin is the devil incarnate is simply ridiculous.
“My whole body puckered, as it were. I tensed up. And…I didn’t know what to do,” Rogan continued, still acting as if a friendly meeting with Ryan was akin to being cornered by an ax murderer.
“And he came over and just grabbed my hand. And I’m like, ‘I’m shaking his hand, I don’t know what to do,’” the actor continued. Here’s a hint, Seth: Shake his hand like a grown adult, you dolt.
“And he says, ‘Can I have a picture with you?’ and I look over and his kids are standing right there expectantly, clearly fans of mine, and I said, ‘No way, man!” Rogan continued.
Remember, this was a charity event organized to help cure Alzheimer’s. Rogan decided that this moment, in front of Ryan’s underage sons who were being polite and admiring of him, to turn into a first-class jerk and turn a pleasant meeting into a political rant.
“And I couldn’t stop. I said, ‘Furthermore, I hate what you’re doing with the country at this moment, and I’m counting the days till you no longer have one iota of the power that you currently have.’ And I look over and his kids are still standing right there, and I feel very conflicted about this at this moment,” Rogan continued.
Not conflicted enough to stop acting like a twit, apparently. Rogan’s weak justification for rude and appalling behavior to people trying to be friendly? He believes Hollywood actors are the center of the universe.
“It’s not their fault, but at the same time, they should probably learn that if they like a movie or song, the person who made that probably doesn’t like their dad that much,” the comedian declared about Ryan’s teenage sons.
The arrogance of that statement defies explanation.
This is how out of touch and haughty Hollywood has become. They are now so far off the political map to the left that merely being polite and civil to people with different views is impossible for them — and they use charity events to bash people they’ve just met.
