Hatch Gives Dems History Lesson After Claim Kavanaugh Must Recuse from ‘Party’ Cases
If there’s ever been evidence that Democrats work in willful ignorance, the sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is it.
Democratic leadership, blinded by their hatred of all things Trump, have gone all in on doing whatever they can to derail Kavanaugh. That, in and of itself, is hardly a surprise.
But now they’re trying to make their own efforts to destroy Kavanaugh a reason that he should not sit on the bench. After maliciously maligning Kavanaugh’s character without any concrete evidence, Democrats now claim to be worried about his ability to remain nonpartisan.
There’s no evidence to suggest Kavanaugh would be biased against Democrats after this entire ordeal, but then again, evidence means very little to Democrats, apparently.
New York Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler went on ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton White House aide, to air his concerns about Kavanaugh’s ability to maintain judicial impartiality.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler says Brett Kavanaugh's "evident animus" toward Democrats should be "disqualifying."
"He's still supposed to be behave as a judge … What evidence does he have, for instance, that the Clintons had anything to do with any of this?" https://t.co/X4h1djpn55 pic.twitter.com/iiTMaeh1Rs

Nadler claimed to be particularly put off by Kavanugh’s emotional opening statement on Thursday to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where Kavanaugh called out the Democratic machinations for what they were.
“I was astonished at his rant,” Nadler said. “He’s supposed to be nonpartisan.”
Nadler groused about Kavanaugh’s “evident animus” towards Democrats. Look, any sane human being would hold “evident animus” toward a group of people trying to smear his good name for political gain. That still doesn’t mean Kavanaugh can’t be nonpartisan as a sitting Supreme Court justice.
It wasn’t just Nadler voicing his concerns. Hawaii Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono echoed similar sentiments.
Sen. Mazie Hirono says Brett Kavanaugh accusing "Democrats of some kind of a conspiracy to do him in" was "so bizarre" and reveals that he can't be a non-partisan judge https://t.co/EB6KR3YBPx #ThisWeek pic.twitter.com/seKChMMQXL

“He revealed himself as a partisan,” Hirono said. “I would think that if I were a Democrat going before him, I’d ask him to recuse himself.”
This is such a despicable and nonsensical reaction. Think about. Democrats attacked him with nothing but flimsy anecdotal evidence. Democrats dragged Kavanaugh and his family through the mud. Democrats have done everything they can to make Kavanaugh’s life, and confirmation process, as miserable as possible.
And they’re the ones with the audacity to question Kavanaugh’s sense of fairness?
Perhaps I’m not giving the Democrats enough credit. This could very well have been the Democrats’ game plan all along. Launch a vile accusation against the Trump appointee, then turn around and use his justifiably angry reaction to further denigrate his ability to serve as judge.
But if that was the Democrats’ ulterior motive in all of this, they’re not going to get away with it so easily. Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch blasted Democrats for their latest plot.
This is nonsense. Hatch supported Justice Ginsburg's confirmation, and hasn’t called for her to recuse herself from any case related to the Trump administration simply because she has attacked President Trump.https://t.co/rTdFYmpZxR pic.twitter.com/2I3I78MhJT

“This is nonsense,” Hatch’s office tweeted out. “Hatch supported Justice Ginsbrug’s confirmation, and hasn’t called for her to recuse herself from any case related to the Trump administration simply because she has attacked President Trump.”
Boom. It’s doesn’t get much clearer than that.
Hatch, a staunch Republican and conservative, couldn’t be more correct. Anyone in the United States who follows politics knows Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg opposed Trump’s election to the presidency. Yet a principled conservative like Hatch hasn’t demanded she recuse herself from cases involving Trump.
It’s a blatant double standard that has become an all-too-familiar play from the Democrats’ handbook.
Even with a blaze of media attention over the past two weeks, there’s still no concrete evidence Kavanaugh sexually assaulted anyone.
But there is plenty of evidence that Democrats will stoop to any low to derail a man whose only blemish is — in Democrats’ eyes — that he was appointed by Trump.
Thankfully, there are still people like Orrin Hatch who are willing to call them out on it.
