Fox Host Draws Leftist Outrage with Unique Suggestion for Migrant Caravan

Share

Is everything open to mockery, or should some subjects be left alone?

That’s the question that some people are asking after a well-known Fox News host made a controversial joke about the “human caravan” of migrants currently making its way north from Central America.

During a Thursday segment on “The Five,” Lisa Kennedy Montgomery — who goes by her moniker “Kennedy” — joking declared that she had a new criteria for immigrants to pass before they could enter the United States.

“If you think about the kind of people you want to have in this country, you want people who are hardworking, people who are ethical, people who look out for their families and their communities and people who are very physically strong,” Kennedy began.

Then she dropped her, shall we say, unique idea: A comically tough set of challenges.

“So I think we need to set up an ‘American Ninja Warrior’ obstacle course at the border and whoever can make it — you can’t fake it — they get through,” she offered.

“American Ninja Warrior,” as you might know, is a show that requires contestants to run, jump and climb through increasingly difficult physical barriers. Losers are disqualified when they fall from the course.

Do you think Kennedy's comment was funny?

Kennedy was obviously trying to be funny, and offering unexpected and independent “takes” on politics or current events is actually a big part of her job on Fox News opinion panels.

Not everyone found the joke humorous, however. Several prominent liberals quickly melted down over the comment.

“Who is this idiot?” demanded Howard Dean, the former Democrat presidential candidate. Dean became a joke of his own after his 2004 White House run came to a screeching halt … literally.

Kennedy pushed back, responding directly to Dean on Twitter.

“Name calling is so brave! Oh you humorless wretch, your name is synonymous w failure. YEEEEEEHAAAAWWWWWW!!!” she posted, referencing his infamous Dean Scream.

Another pundit who acted offended by the Ninja Warrior joke was Matthew Dowd, ABC’s chief political analyst.

“How about you try making a 1000 mile journey with little food and water, walking most of the way, and see if you make it?” he challenged the Fox host.

It’s worth pointing out that it is usually the left that sees nothing as sacred and attempts to mock everything. The majority of mainstream comedians lean left, or so it certainly seems, and making off-color jokes about everything from sexual assault to school shootings was never off limits for them before.

Is a humorous remark about the flood of immigration really where we draw the line? We’ll leave that up to you to decide, but it would certainly be easier to take the left’s constant outrage more seriously if it didn’t seem so contrived — every time.
