Former Obama DHS Explodes on Dems' Border Wall Argument
Jeh Johnson, former Secretary of Homeland Security under then-President Barack Obama, said there is currently a “crisis” at the southern border as apprehensions surge.
“By anyone’s definition, by anyone’s measure, right now, we have a crisis at our southern border,” Johnson asserted Saturday on Fox News’ “Cavuto Live.”
“According to the commissioner of CBP, there were 4,000 apprehensions in one day alone this past week. And we are on pace for 100,000 apprehensions on our southern border this month,” he continued.
This large influx of illegal immigration comes just months after Democrats resisted President Donald Trump’s demands for a border wall and belittled his concerns about a crisis on the southern border.
For example, Democratic Sen. Cory Booker outright denied Trump’s border crisis warning last month by stating, “If there’s any emergency at the border, it’s the one he created, the crisis he created.”
But now the crisis is becoming impossible to ignore — even an ex-member of Obama’s cabinet can admit there is a border crisis.
Johnson said the current surge in apprehensions on the border is “by far a greater number than anything I saw on my watch in my three years as Secretary of Homeland Security.”

“That’s a crisis not only in Central America, the poverty and violence, but it also overwhelms our border security officials and their ability to deal with it. And it overwhelms communities on the border — on the Mexican side and on the U.S. side — and their ability to absorb those kinds of numbers coming into the country,” Johnson explained.
In other words, the border crisis is real and Democrats (as well as RINOs) in Congress have been dragging their feet on the issue.
While lawmakers are unwilling to cooperate with Trump to put an end to the border crisis, the president has threatened to take matters into his own hands.
In a series of tweets on Friday, Trump threatened to close the border if Mexico doesn’t immediately stop the influx of immigrants coming to the United States.
The DEMOCRATS have given us the weakest immigration laws anywhere in the World. Mexico has the strongest, & they make more than $100 Billion a year on the U.S. Therefore, CONGRESS MUST CHANGE OUR WEAK IMMIGRATION LAWS NOW, & Mexico must stop illegals from entering the U.S….

….through their country and our Southern Border. Mexico has for many years made a fortune off of the U.S., far greater than Border Costs. If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States throug our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING…..

….the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week. This would be so easy for Mexico to do, but they just take our money and “talk.” Besides, we lose so much money with them, especially when you add in drug trafficking etc.), that the Border closing would be a good thing!

Trump should definitely do what he can to mitigate the border crisis, but he shouldn’t have to do it alone. It’s time for Democrats and RINOs in Congress to stop illegal immigration before it becomes unmanageable.
Border security shouldn’t be a partisan issue, and that wasn’t the case once upon a time.
Since Trump took office, Democrats have been attempting to gain political points by using border security as a wedge issue, but the dire crisis at the border has become impossible to ignore.
The left’s denial of the border crisis only hurts their credibility because even an appointee of President Obama can admit there is a serious problem.
