Flashback: Bill Clinton Ordered Early Morning Raid To Seize Immigrant Child at Gunpoint
The American people may be tired of hearing from the Clintons, but it looks like Bill hasn’t gotten the memo.
Earlier this week, the 71-year-old former president added his hoarse voice to the immigration debate. His target, unsurprisingly, was Donald Trump.
“Taking these kids away from their parents makes no sense,” Clinton declared on Thursday, according to The Hill.
“It’s immoral. It’s not required by the law. And it’s not necessary to protect the border. It’s just wrong,” the 42nd president continued.
Yes, the man who cheated on his wife with a college-age intern in the Oval Office, and was then impeached and disbarred for lying about it under oath, is now the authority on morality. Lord have mercy.
“Children should not be bargaining chips,” continued the president whose administration oversaw the 1993 Waco siege that ended with around 30 dead kids.
Clinton is either playing dumb or totally unaware about how family separations at the border actually work. He seems completely oblivious to the fact that the temporary housing of child migrants is happening only when the adults cannot be confirmed as their real parents, or when parents are suspected of felony counts after repeatedly crossing the border illegally.
Of course, the mainstream media has been less than honest about the entire controversy — and it seems they’ve also conveniently forgotten about Clinton’s very different tone on immigration during his time in office.
“All Americans, not only in the States most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country,” President Clinton lectured the nation during his 1995 State of the Union address.
The Clinton of 23 years ago was downright proud to be kicking illegal immigrants out of the country.
“That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens,” he bragged to the American people.
“(W)e will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes,” he promised. “(W)e are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”
Even the unashamedly leftist news outlet Huffington Post acknowledged that it was Clinton, not Trump, who laid the groundwork for the current border enforcement controversy.
Trump’s border programs “owe a specific debt to legislation enacted during the tenure of none other than President William Jefferson Clinton,” the liberal outlet reported in 2017.
Surprisingly, Clinton didn’t just talk tough about immigration. He also enforced it … even at gunpoint.
In 2000, prior to the Bush-Gore election and while Clinton was still president, the Democrat administration ordered a young Hispanic immigrant to be literally torn away from his family in the United States and returned to the oppressive Castro regime.
“In the end, it took just three minutes. But it was three minutes of raw intimidation,” the Los Angeles Times wrote about the Clinton-approved raid.
“Federal agents stormed into the little white house. One agent, in green riot gear, armed with an automatic rifle, burst into a bedroom where Elian Gonzalez was being hidden,” the LA Times continued. “A Spanish-speaking female agent grabbed the scared 6-year-old and ran to an unmarked white van.”
Border agents with assault rifles breaking down doors, stealing Hispanic children and throwing them into unmarked vans to be returned to their oppressive countries. No, this isn’t Trump’s America. This happened under President Bill Clinton.
Democrats had no problem with outright domination and use of force against immigrants two decades ago.
“You want to go in with enough force to absolutely dominate the scene. Your message is, we’re not here to talk, the time for negotiations is over; we’re here to get the little boy and get out of here as soon as possible,” retired FBI official Clint Van Zandt said, according to the LA Times.
Let’s be clear: The Elian Gonzalez case is not an apples-to-apples comparison with the current controversy along the border.
What it does show clearly, however, is that Bill Clinton is talking out of his hind end.
The former president was strangely silent when children were actually being detained in cages during the Obama years … and he himself made border enforcement and illegal immigration crackdowns a pillar of his second term.
One look at the iconic photos from the Elian Gonzalez raid shows that Clinton had no problem using intimidation and force to deport illegal aliens during his time. It’s only now when he can hurt President Trump that he sanctimoniously speaks out, contradicting his entire time in office.
The border issue is complex with few easy answers, but it doesn’t help that the media and liberal politicians are being purposely deceptive about the facts.
