The Excuses Spoiled AOC's Using for Her Diving Poll Numbers Are Embarrassing

Share

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was seen by many as the new face of the Democrat party. Some liberals enthusiastically held her up as a sort of Hispanic Barack Obama, a young and fresh voice who could lead the left into the next decade.

But that optimism for the socialist New York rep — and youngest person currently serving in Congress — has quickly faded. Eye-opening new polls show that while the liberal media has fawned over Ocasio-Cortez, her popularity with American citizens is dropping fast.

On Friday, the widely respected Gallup polling group released new numbers that showcased an interesting discovery: More people know about Ocasio-Cortez than ever before, but the more exposure she gets, the more unfavorably she’s viewed.

“Ocasio-Cortez is known by most Americans at this point, despite having only two months on the job as a House freshman,” Gallup reported.

But over just a few months, her “unfavorable” rating has skyrocketed, meaning that far more Americans dislike her. “Since September, the congresswoman’s unfavorable rating has climbed 15 percentage points,” Gallup said.

Unsurprisingly, the study found that she’s doing the most poorly among the GOP. “The congresswoman is viewed negatively by most Republicans, of whom 73% have an unfavorable view of her — up from 52% in September,” the polling group continued.

But other major demographic groups are turning bitter on Ocasio-Cortez. “Ocasio-Cortez is also underwater in her net favorable ratings among men (-24), whites (-24) and adults aged 55 and older (-22),” Gallup found.

Over the weekend, the young congresswoman decided to address her plummeting poll standings. Her explanation for declining favorability ratings, however, was so bizarre that it needs to be called out.

The problem, Ocasio-Cortez explained, is that … er, more people know about her now.

“The reason people know more is bc Fox News has turned into “AOC TMZ” (no offense to TMZ), so awareness is growing w/ GOPers,” the congresswoman posted on Twitter.

She went on to call Fox a “propaganda machine.” The reason? Well, Fox simply reported on Gallup’s findings.

“U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s unfavorable rating has spiked after just months in Congress, with most of the public viewing her negatively rather than favorably, a new poll shows,” the news outlet said over the weekend.

It was a factual report free of conjecture, presenting what the non-partisan Gallup group had discovered. Yes, telling the truth is now “propaganda” to the left. Maybe they were “hate facts.”

In a related tweet, Ocasio-Cortez also blasted Gallup for what she called “unconscious bias” because they correctly stated that more demographic groups see her unfavorably than favorably. More hate facts.

Here’s the reality: It isn’t “propaganda.” What the socialist from New York doesn’t want to admit is that the majority of Americans see socialism as the failed economic policy that it is and side against her when they realize how far-left her views truly are.

Do you think AOC's poll numbers will continue to drop?

At the same time, Ocasio-Cortez’s wild-eyed, rambling non-answers when asked to explain simple questions — such as “how will we pay for it?” — turn most Americans off. People want informed problem-solvers representing them, not clueless smiling faces who declare that they’re “not the expert” on key issues.

Meanwhile, the representative made a fool out of herself with her catastrophically expensive, thrown together “Green New Deal,” which was mocked by both the left and the right as amateurish and fantastical.

Her deflecting and finger-pointing response to tanking poll numbers is just embarrassing, but maybe she should keep talking. After all, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s worst enemy seems to be herself.
