Even The Boston Globe Is Fed Up with Warren, Blasting Her with Scathing Editorial
If you’re a liberal senator, and your own state’s biggest left-leaning news publication is sick of you, it might be time to re-evaluate.
Of course, at this point, there’s a better chance of PETA supporting your local butcher shop than Sen. Elizabeth Warren ever deciding to engage in some useful introspection.
Warren, the much-maligned senator better known for her absurd claims of being Native American than anything actually benefitting the American people, officially announced her candidacy for the 2020 presidential nomination on Saturday.
The fact that the GOP almost seemed gleeful about her announcement should’ve given her cause to pause.
But what really should’ve given Warren reason for introspection? The fact that The Boston Globe, which has been profoundly generous in its coverage of Warren, tried in an editorial published Friday to warn against her running.
Titled “Elizabeth Warren needs to stop the drip-drip-drip of fresh revelations,” the editorial clearly pulls some punches, but the fact that the newspaper is willing to criticize her at all should speak volumes of how toxic her hometown newspaper views Warren’s candidacy to be.
“Warren grew up believing she was part Cherokee. But answering the question the way she did was a mistake, even by the standards of 1986. Warren’s never been a member of any tribe. She’s white. Playing loose with the facts about identity is bad within the current political climate of the Democratic Party, where issues of race have come to the fore,” The Globe said.
“If Warren can’t stop the slow bleed of bad news now, the presidential candidacy she is expected to launch in Lawrence on Saturday is going to go nowhere fast,” The Globe wrote. “To unseat Donald Trump, Democrats need to put up the strongest candidate possible, not another wounded one. A polarizing figure, Warren already faces headwinds that complicate her candidacy.”
And really, that last line is put gently, but it’s scathing.
The notoriously left-leaning Globe doesn’t actually care about whatever PR damage Warren is doing to herself. It’s singularly focused, as most Democrats and leftists are in 2019, on unseating President Donald Trump in 2020.
The editorial is clearly signaling that Warren’s baggage might destroy those hopes.
The Globe piece also focused on the recent PR nightmare of Warren claiming Native American heritage for the State Bar of Texas.

“The best thing Warren can do — what she needs to do — is put all the facts about her past in front of voters. The senator needs to search not only her records but her conscience to end the drip-drip-drip of fresh revelations. Only Warren knows how much worse her political travails can get. For the sake of her campaign — and of her party, should she end up winning the nomination — any further revelations must come from her,” The Globe argued.
The thing about Warren that The Globe seems to almost willfully gloss over is that she’s just profoundly unlikable. She’s far-left, phony and a pathological liar.
In fairness, you could use those adjectives to describe just about any Democratic candidate for the party’s 2020 nomination.
On second thought, maybe The Boston Globe should chill out.
There may not be a surer path to Trump’s second term than candidates like Elizabeth Warren.
