Ellison Dives in Polls as Female Abuse Allegations Cause Campaign to Crater
After Democrats dragged out the sexual assault accusations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, they are now getting a taste of their own medicine with a massive drop in support for Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison.
A new poll by The Star Tribune and Minnesota Public Radio taken last week shows a significant lead for Ellison’s opponent, Republican Doug Wardlow, in the race for Minnesota attorney general.
In September, Ellison held a 5-point lead, but he now trails by 7 points, which is an enormous 12-point shift.

Of course, the shift coincided with the aftermath of the confirmation of Kavanaugh and the controversy over unsubstantiated accusations made against him.
The bitter political fight surrounding Kavanaugh’s confirmation clearly wasn’t good for Ellison, who was previously embroiled in his own controversy regarding assault accusations that were more credible than any of the allegations against Kavanaugh.
Ellison’s ex-girlfriend accused him of sending her threatening text messages and dragging her off a bed by her feet during one dispute.
The ex-girlfriend, Karen Monahan had previously provided evidence in the form of medical records and therapist records.
“I provided medical records from 2017, stating on two different Dr. Visits, I told them about the abuse and who did it. My therapist released records stating I have been dealing and healing from the abuse,” she wrote on Twitter.

Ellison also faced accusations from another woman, Amy Alexander, who said Ellison assaulted her in 2005 when the two were in a relationship. Ellison has denied both the assault and that the two were in a romantic relationship, but there is a police report to back up Alexander’s accusation.
The report identifies Ellison: “CLR RPTG SHE WAS ASLT’D BY ELLISON/KEITH/BLACK MALE/41/WEARING SUIT LS LEAVING APT.”
These scandals were looming over Ellison’s head before the Kavanaugh debacle, but the renewed attention on sexual assault accusations gave Monahan and Alexander a chance to speak out with a bigger public platform.
It’s entirely fitting that leftists managed to hurt themselves by concocting the “believe women” campaign and creating a witch hunt atmosphere.
If the left didn’t play so dirty during the Kavanaugh confirmation process, it’s unlikely that Ellison’s scandals would have received so much attention and he had a good shot at winning the attorney general post, if polls are any indication.
The election could still go his way, of course, but It also doesn’t help Democrats that the accusations against Ellison are substantiated by evidence, unlike the hazy, unsubstantiated accusations against Kavanaugh.
