Double Amputee Marine Vet Tells Andrew Cuomo What 'MAGA' Really Means
I feel kind of bad for whatever contractor got the bid for the “Cuomo 2020” shirts, because it’s pretty clear New York’s governor isn’t exactly going to be our next president.
Cuomo, you may have heard, decided to tell a live audience last week that America “was never that great.”
He’s since apologized, saying that his very unambiguous statement was “inartful.”
“I want to be very clear,” Cuomo said Friday, according to the U.K. Guardian. “Of course America is great and of course America has always been great.”
(Except when he says it isn’t.)
However, a double-amputee Marine veteran who lost his limbs defending the “not-great” country has a bit of a message for Gov. Cuomo.
“I want to give Governor Cuomo a little bit of a lesson real quick. When the president says ‘Make America Great Again,’ what he means and what voters who voted for him hear is, ‘make our elected representatives represent our greatness again,’” veteran Johnny “Joey” Jones said on “Fox & Friends” on Friday.
“There was a time when personal responsibility was a way of life,” Jones continued, according to The Daily Caller.
“There was a time when you looked at someone with a different colored skin who prayed at a different place or ate differently than you do, or had a different culture, and you saw an American.
“There was a time when someone’s house burned down, down the street. You were the first one there to help them.
“I believe that those people are still alive and well in this country, but our elected representatives — they don’t see it that way.”
Instead, Jones said that we now elect politicians who only see their base — not Americans. And, in Cuomo’s case, that means he doesn’t look toward conservative Americans.
“They don’t look to represent that part of America,” Jones said.
“It’s people like Gov. Cuomo who have little faith in us as a people that (Trump) is referring to. You see, for elected representatives it’s a lot easier to tell you what’s wrong than to spend any time fixing it, because they might work themselves out of a job.
“When we talk about ‘Make America Great Again,’ we mean make our elected representatives represent who we are again,” Jones concluded.
“We’ve pretty much always been a great place.”
The United States is a great place — the greatest nation on the face of this planet. It’s a shame Andrew Cuomo can’t see that — because that’s what MAGA really means.
