Disturbing: Roseanne Comes Forward To Reveal How Network Plans To 'Kill Her Off' on Show
Will Roseanne Barr’s character be killed off by an opioid overdose on the spin-off of her ABC show? That’s at least what Barr is telling one YouTube host.
Barr was fired from the reboot of “Roseanne” back in May after a racist tweet about former Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett.
At first, it looked like the show itself was finished, but instead of ABC killing off the effort entirely, he newly Roseanne-less program got christened “The Conners.” It’ll debut this October and will almost certainly be full of on-the-nose moments of boilerplate liberalism so obvious it’ll be like an after-school special for the pink knit-hat set.
According to People, one of those on-the-nose moments will involve the death of the once-titular character, Roseanne Conner.
“Oh ya, they killed her,” Roseanne told Brandon Straka on his YouTube show “Walk Away.” (Click here for the hour-long interview. The discussion about the television show starts about the half-hour mark.)
“They have her die of an opioid overdose.”
According to Fox News, John Goodman — who played Barr’s husband on the series — says that Barr’s character will die but hasn’t revealed how the death would occur.
ABC has also yet to comment on the manner in which Roseanne’s character will die.
Barr isn’t happy about the manner in which it apparently happened.
“It wasn’t enough to (fire me), they had to so cruelly insult the people who loved that family and that show,” she said.
However, she added that she was at peace with how it had ended.
“There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s done. It’s over,” she said.
“There’s no fight left.”
Barr has been slowly easing back into the spotlight after her May tweet about Jarrett — which said the adviser was like if the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby” — with some mixed results.
A video of her released this summer didn’t come across so well. Her appearance on the YouTube show, meanwhile, seemed to have her in considerably better form.
It probably didn’t help her among Hollywood liberals that the appearance was on an expressly conservative political show, but it’s at least an encouraging sign to the rest of us that Barr is doing better.
As for the manner in which her character died on the show, again, there will likely be nothing as politically unsubtle as “The Conners” on television this fall, up to and including MSNBC.
I’m halfway surprised her character didn’t overdose in the street where her body was run over by a campaign bus ferrying Ted Cruz to a campaign event. And yes, I’m aware the show is set near Chicago and not anywhere near Texas. That’s just how bad I expect this soft reboot to be.
