Police Officers Get Creative, Devastate Patriot Prayer and Antifa's Violent Protests

Share

Politics has certainly sunk to a new low. Sadly, violence now seems to be the order of the day at any given time or protest.

Portland, Oregon, was the scene of just one of those instances on Saturday night.

Members of the right-wing groups Patriot Prayer and The Proud Boys organized a march for “law and order” to speak out against Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s oversight of the city’s police force and an incident in New York City where a Republican Party headquarters was vandalized.

Ironically, a march designed to promote “law and order” resulted in a violent protest that ended with police intervention.

“Nazis go home” and “Alt-right scum not welcome in Portland” were the calls of antifa protestors directed toward Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys groups led by Joey Gibson before the fights broke out, reported Fox News.

The protest escalated into a “bloody brawl,” according to The Oregonian, as black-clad members of the far-left antifa engaged the Patriot Prayer group “amid mounting tensions among both groups.”

The newspaper reported the rival groups “used bear spray, bare fists and batons to thrash each other” near a popular local bar.

The confrontation, which lasted only a few minutes, required the intervention of police in riot gear firing pepper balls at the rioters. Authorities also deployed “flash bang” devices to break up the feuding parties.

Is it ever acceptable to engage in violent protests?

While they made no arrests, police reported that members of both groups carried knives, firearms and wore hard-knuckle gloves. The Associated Press reported long sticks and homemade shields were also confiscated.

Police presence remained strong as they stood between the two groups with bomb-sniffing dogs and established weapons checkpoints.

Over the course of about 20 minutes, social media exploded with its own coverage of the events.

An RT News video posted on YouTube shows police showing up to put an end to the violence from the opposing demonstrators.

Being passionate about your political beliefs is a good thing. Letting that passion escalate into violence is never a good thing. For some groups on the left, however, violence is the only method they use when expressing their beliefs.
