Defeated Beto Takes Stage, Drops F-Bomb in Disgraceful Display

Share

It takes a lot to embarrass the liberals at MSNBC.

But Texas Democratic Senate candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke did just that on Tuesday when he dropped an f-bomb into his speech conceding his loss to incumbent Republican Ted Cruz.

And it was a man with a documented history of lying – MSNBC anchor Brian Williams – who had to tell the truth about the occasion.

The moment came as O’Rourke stood before a cheering, but no doubt disappointed, crowd and thanked his supporters.

“I want to thank this amazing campaign of people — not a dime from a single PAC, all people, all the time, in every single part of Texas,” O’Rourke said. “All of you, showing the country how you do this.

“I’m so f—–g proud of you guys,” he said.

Check it out here. (Note: The obscenity is blanked out in this clip.)

The f-word is omitted here, but Williams clearly heard it, and was clearly embarrassed.

“Sorry for the F-bomb,” Williams said, according to Politico. “We have no control of what’s in the concession speeches.”

Some social media users were also disgusted.

As Politico pointed out delicately, “it was an unusual vulgarity to hear from a member of Congress on live television.”

But O’Rourke’s whole campaign was unusual.

It was unusual to the degree that a candidate – even a Democrat – received such fawning media coverage. It was unusual in the amount of money that poured into the race from liberals hoping to unseat a conservative Republican. (His supporters in Hollywood and the entertainment world included big names like Jimmy Kimmel, Rosie O’Donnell and Chris Rock, according to Deadline.)

Were you surprised Ted Cruz defeated Beto O'Rourke in Texas?

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was the ultimate victor, preserving his Senate seat and the Republican majority in the upper house.

But it was most unusual for the obscene hype that surrounded a member of the U.S. House of Representatives who had no accomplishments to speak of being talked about as some kind of political rock star — or a second coming of the Kennedys.

Fortunately, O’Rourke lost – dashing Democrat hopes of turning Texas blue. But he didn’t do it without embarrassing himself again, his party, and even the media that had pushed his candidacy so slavishly.

It takes a lot to embarrass the liberals at MSNBC, but Beto O’Rourke managed to pull it off.
