Dan Crenshaw Grabs a Pen and Paper, Breaks Down Border Crisis So Even Dems Can Understand It
Rep. Dan Crenshaw has become a force for the radical left in Congress to reckon with on the border crisis issue facing the United States right now.
Some Democrats — specifically those within the radical wing of the party — dragged their feet on a $4.5 billion humanitarian aid package that President Donald Trump requested. The bill, called the “Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border Act,” passed on Tuesday, but not without a fight.
Ironically, the reason progressive lawmakers such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were against the bill is because they said that detained migrant children were being held in less-than-ideal conditions. However, the funding bill that they attempted to delay or kill was meant to remedy the problem.
So, by raising a stink in claiming outrageous things like the holding centers were the equivalent of Nazi-era death camps and possibly delaying the passing of the bill, they also continued to delay getting the children to the proper facilities.
Crenshaw broke it down with a simple illustration in a video posted to Twitter on June 13.
It’s too bad Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive cohorts didn’t pay attention, because it would have made the decision to pass the funding bill much easier. That is, if they were truly concerned about the children and not using the issue to fear-monger and drum up emotion-tugging headlines.
Watch Crenshaw’s video below, which he captioned, “Dems complain about poor conditions, but won’t fix it. Learn why that money is crucial.”
We’re voting on amendments for the spending bill. Money to address the border crisis is NOT included.
On top of that, House Dems have blocked humanitarian aid at the border 15 times.

In the video, Crenshaw explained that a massive influx of migrants were pouring in across the southern U.S. border — 144,000 in May alone. One can only imagine the strain it puts on the resources that were originally meant for a fraction of that number.
He went on to lay out exactly what happens once they cross the border.
“Border Patrol apprehends them. When Border Patrol apprehends people they take them to a central processing center. The central processing centers are meant to be temporary. They are overcrowded right now, the conditions are not great,” Crenshaw said.
He said the conditions aren’t the fault of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents; it’s a severe lack of resources because of the number of illegal immigrants who are crossing over.
As far as the children — the unaccompanied minors — Democrats are so worried about, Crenshaw explained that after they’re processed, they’re sent to a better-equipped facility run by the government’s Health and Human Services department.
“These facilities are much different. They have a lot more resources, they have educational resources, sports facilities, more space for kids to sleep. That’s where we’re supposed to send kids and that’s what happens. But right now, they have run out of money.”
And that’s where the funding bill came into play. A majority of the money designated in the bill will go to HHS facilities, so that they can continue to take in migrant children and provide the best possible resources. They obviously can’t do that without the funding to continue.
Why in the world can’t progressive Democrats grasp that simple concept? Children were, and are, living in sub-par conditions (at least temporarily) because HHS didn’t have the monetary resources to transfer them out of the central processing centers. It’s that simple.
Trump tried to fix the situation and eventually did. Many Democrats were certainly not helpful in the matter, though you won’t see that reported on CNN or MSNBC.
There are no conspiracies that the Trump administration is torturing kids because they’re evil monsters who love seeing children sleep on floors, though it seems some Democrats want that to be true.
It’s basic economics. But we all know that isn’t exactly the Democrats’ strongest subject.
