Cruz Delivers Knockout Blow to Opponent Who Said Nothing Is 'More American' Than Anthem Kneeling

Share

There is a segment of America that is sick and tired of the desecration of our flag. And since the NFL has adopted the take-a-knee protest model that number might be growing.

Even many who are sympathetic to the issues important to the kneelers believe there is a better way to get that point across than attacking the American symbol of liberty.

It seems the American people are at a crossroads in the battle to protect our founding principles of freedom and liberty from a culture that desires to overturn them in favor of progressive socialist doctrines. And to do that, progressives must eliminate all symbols of preceding culture.

Well, not so fast. Sen. Ted Cruz just threw a wrench into that working model. And it’s a disruption that his Texas constituents seem to appreciate.

Cruz is campaigning across his state against Democrat Beto O’Rourke to keep his U.S. senate seat, and he is drawing clear lines of distinction between his ideology and O’Rourke’s, especially where kneeling during the national anthem is concerned.

BizPac Review chronicled Cruz’s statements of support for the flag and the social media reaction. He recalled a moving story of campaign stops where soldiers from every branch of the military stopped what ever they were doing to honor the flag anytime the national anthem was played.

“When Beto O’Rourke says he can’t think of anything more American, well I got to admit, I can,” he said.

For context, you should hear O’Rourke’s response to a simple question: Is it disrespectful to kneel for the national anthem?

It took him approximately four minutes to answer it:

It’s not a stretch to expect the liberal celebrity response from O’Rourke’s message to be supportive. And they did weigh in.

Kevin Bacon’s comments inspired a response from Cruz.

This issue continues to be a hot button for most conservatives. Some of them weighed in on the latest sparring, as well.

Polling has this race very close, depending on who you read.

Is supporting players taking a knee a winning strategy for liberals?

Many liberal media outlets are pushing an NBC/Marist poll that has Cruz only 4 points ahead of his Democrat opponent. However, a CBS News/YouGov poll has Cruz 10 points up, and the RealClearPolitics average of polls has Cruz ahead with an average of 6.2 percent.

While this seems to be a tighter race for Cruz than perhaps he was expecting, he’s drawing a line in the sand when it comes to honoring the American flag.
