The Most Corrupt Big City in America Is a Democrat-Run Sanctuary City - Study

Share

Evidence is a powerful thing. Facing the facts about a situation — whether in crime, politics, or science — is a key part of finding solutions, and ignoring evidence means that issues are perpetuated instead of fixed.

But it looks like the left isn’t interested in evidence when it comes to how their own policies impact cities. Some of the most corrupt cities in America are run by liberals, and topping the “dishonorable” list is none other than the leftist paradise of Chicago.

According to a new report from the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Windy City is the most corrupt big city in the United States.

That isn’t particularly surprising to anyone familiar with the Chicago political machine, but is yet another nail in the coffin for leftists who claim that their politics are good for the country.

“The group used the most recent figures from the Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Section, which found that there were a total of 25 public corruption convictions during 2017 in the Northern District of Illinois, which includes all of Chicago and the northern third of Illinois,” Fox News summarized.

In addition to finding that Barack Obama’s hometown is the pinnacle of corruption, the UIC study also had harsh news for the rest of Illinois.

“Illinois remains the third most corrupt state when compared on a per capita basis to other large states and the District of Columbia,” the report stated.

“There were a total of 34 cases of public corruption convictions in all of Illinois, proving that public corruption is not just a big city problem,” the experts behind the study continued.

But what about other parts of the country? Certainly Chicago can’t be the only city with problems.

Do you believe there's a link between liberal policies and corrupt cities?

“These five districts, Chicago, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Miami and Washington D.C. led all of the 93 federal judicial districts (in public corruption cases) for the 47-year period since 1976,” the university researchers added.

Eagle-eyed readers will quickly realize that those cities have a few things in common. All are liberal enclaves that are almost exclusively run by — you guessed it — Democrats.

Chicago, for instance, hasn’t had a Republican mayor since 1931, a jaw-dropping statistic. And its city council of aldermen is 96 percent Democrat, with only one GOP council member and one independent.

It’s the same story in other high corruption cities. Los Angeles has 14 Democrats on its city council, vastly outnumbering its single Republican. New York City has a 94 percent Democrat city council, and don’t even get us started on Washington D.C.

There’s another curious connection between the cities which top the “most corrupt” list: How they deal with illegal aliens. Chicago is so much of a “sanctuary city” that it openly brags about this non-enforcement policy on its official website; other places including L.A. and New York are also well-known sanctuary cities for illegals.

Now, this certainly doesn’t mean that sanctuary policies automatically make a city corrupt, but it’s an interesting correlation.

What these findings do suggest is that there is a pile of evidence showing that liberalism just doesn’t work so well in real life. It is leftist-led locations like Chicago which are failures on crime, gun control, and corruption, yet voters continue to support liberal politicians with seemingly blind fervor.

“(Y)ou get the politicians you deserve … And if you don’t vote and you don’t pay attention, you’ll get policies that don’t reflect your interest.” Ironically enough, those were the words of Windy City politician Barack Obama.

In many ways, he’s right, but that’s a reason for people to re-think their support for Chicago Democrats just like him.
