Comrade Bernie Already Telling Disney How To Spend Its 'Avengers' Profits
Love it or hate it, “Avengers: Endgame” is a triumph of capitalism.
A massive investment of capital went to hordes of actors, extras, screenwriters, technicians, CGI artists, and many others. This would all pay off. Americans, flush with money from a booming economy, flocked to see the movie.
So many people went to see it, in the U.S. and around the world, that the movie broke multiple records on its opening weekend.
But Sen. Bernie Sanders, who didn’t do a single bit of work to make what is now one of the top-earning films of all time, wants to cash in on someone else’s success.
“What would be truly heroic,” Sanders tweeted, “is if Disney used its profits from Avengers to pay all of its workers a middle class wage, instead of paying its CEO Bob Iger $65.6 million – over 1,400 times as much as the average worker at Disney makes.”

If you have any question about how a Bernie Sanders presidency would go, this one tweet should give you a pretty good idea.
Now, Disney is a massive and successful corporation because its leaders do things well. They produce movies that appeal to a wide audience, they makes wise investments in general — they’re good at what they do.
Their first Marvel Universe movie, “Iron Man,” made over $580 million worldwide. According to the entertainment site Collider, Marvel Studios have created win after win after this first film, making hundreds of millions of dollars for nearly every movie.
No matter if you’re burnt out on superhero movies, never cared for them, or are a rabid fan, Marvel Studios’ repeated success (a whopping 22 films) is jaw-dropping, and something that simply doesn’t happen in Hollywood without an impressive amount of talent across the board.
No doubt that much of this motivation comes from the success of the studio’s first few movies.
But without a massive amount of profit, what incentive is there to produce another film with the same quality and amount of enthusiasm? Bernie’s suggestion would see the profits stripped from the studio and distributed to its workers.
As we’ve seen with other methods of wealth distribution, this does result in a temporary rise in worker pay, but is often followed by cuts in personnel and elimination of entire jobs.
And knowing they won’t see a single bit of profit from the movie they’re working so hard to bring together, directors, producers, and others may not be as enthusiastic developing another smash hit. Inferior products would likely result, ending the run of great movies and the countless jobs they’ve created.
Sensible Twitter users were quick to attack Bernie for this ludicrous position.
You seem to not understand how the markets work, more specifically how supply and demand in regard to an individuals labor skills play a massive role in their pay…

As a shareholder I would prefer to Iger every penny and replace all low skilled workers with automated kiosks 🤷♂️ low skilled workers need to get skills instead of counting on govt or above market wages

What would be heroic is if you put the same energy to helping working people during your 40-year senate career as you do helping yourself as a presidential candidate.

Unfortunately for Disney (and every other company in the United States), Bernie is one of the highest-polling Democratic nominees fighting to run against President Donald Trump in 2020.
If he does win and gets a chance to implement his socialist money-redistribution ideology, don’t expect any more gems from Marvel Studios.
