Candace Owens Releases Photos Showing What a Disgrace AOC's Border Photo Shoot Really Was

Share

With this photo shoot, New York’s most famous freshman congresswoman might have just shot herself in the foot.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has already blundered in her activism for illegal immigrants more than once, but she might have been hoping for another splash of sympathetic publicity from the liberal media after a photographer posted pictures of AOC last year overcome by the plight of children detained at the U.S.-Mexico border.

But social media skeptics – including conservative commentator Candace Owens – launched responses that should put AOC to shame.

The story kicked off Monday, as The Hill reported, when a Texas-based photographer who accompanied the then-aspiring official Ocasio-Cortez on a border trip posted “previously unpublished photos” taken exactly a year earlier.

The reaction might not have been quite what was intended. Images of the comely future congresswoman visiting a presumably grimy border area in ruby red lipstick and a spotless white outfit generated plenty of comically skeptical Twitter posts.

But the inimitable Owens used her response to an exceedingly serious point, while mocking the disgraceful hypocrisy of Democrats in general and AOC in particular.

“I decided to stage a photoshoot just like @AOC,” Owens wrote.

“Except I’m outside of an inner-city school where the conditions are abhorrent and the majority of black AMERICAN boys can’t pass a basic reading exam. Maybe the liberal media will give this epidemic some attention now?”

It was a masterstroke of counter-propaganda. If there’s a serious crisis on the southern border, the educational crisis in Democratic-dominated American cities is gargantuan, yet the liberal media and the Democratic Party don’t devote anywhere near the attention to it that it deserves (since that would rile union allies.)

Ocasio-Cortez and her party members will bleed for the cameras when it comes to pretending to show their compassion for the illegal immigrants who are causing the crisis on the southern border.

Did Candace Owens make her point about Democratic hypocrisy?

But when it comes to actually doing something about it, Democrats like AOC are willing to let those immigrants suffer if it could politically damage President Donald Trump and his administration.

Democrats in the House on Tuesday finally managed to pass a bill that would provide $4.5 billion in spending to alleviate the border crisis. But they did it in a way that’s virtually guaranteed not to provide any immediate help, because it’s doesn’t match the bipartisan bill on the topic that passed the Senate on Wednesday by an overwhelming 88-4 vote.

In other words, House Democrats passed a “go-nowhere proposal filled with poison pill riders which the president has indicated he would veto,” as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell put it, according to Fox News.

And AOC couldn’t even bring herself to vote for that, according to The Hill.

She cited the slanderous grounds that a vote for the bill meant “[t]hrowing more money at the very organizations committing human rights abuses — and the very Administration directing these human rights abuses — is not a solution.”

So, she’s accusing her fellow Americans of human rights abuses, and using that as an opportunity to vote against money to help the very people she claims are being abused. Democratic logic at work.

Joining Ocasio-Cortez is the now-familiar coven: Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.

While Ocasio-Cortez supporters glory in the real or imagined tears of the liberal “it” girl of the year, Candace Owens the adult was making a real point about the biggest crisis facing black Americans – the shameful state of urban public school systems.

But with the Democratic Party basically in lockstep with teachers’ unions that have been resisting reforms across the country, that’s not likely to change anytime soon. Not that wealthy liberals ever cared.

It’s a deadly serious subject and deserves the nation’s attention.

Owens and other adults understand. Even if AOC never will.
