California Pushes Illegal Immigration to Stunning New Level With Appointment to State Office

Share

Liberals all across the country have made it quite clear in recent years that they place the interests of illegal immigrants ahead of those of American citizens, and the Democrat-dominated state of California has been at the forefront of this anti-American shift to the left.

Proof positive of that assertion is a report from The Sacramento Bee about how the California Senate Rules Committee recently appointed an illegal immigrant to a statewide government position.

That individual is 33-year-old Lizbeth Mateo, an attorney and immigration rights activist. Mateo will now serve prominently on the California Student Opportunity and Access Program Project Grant Advisory Committee, which advises and assists the California Student Aid Commission’s “efforts to increase college access for California students from low-income or underserved communities,” according to The Bee.

The appointment was announced by state Senate President pro Tem Kevin de León, a harsh critic of President Donald Trump and his immigration policies who in the past has bragged about members of his own family being in the country illegally. De León has also spearheaded the effort to make California a “sanctuary state.”

“While Donald Trump fixates on walls, California will continue to concentrate on opportunities,” de León stated in a news release. “Ms. Mateo is a courageous, determined and intelligent young woman who at great personal risk has dedicated herself to fight for those seeking their rightful place in this country.”

In a statement of her own, Mateo said, “While undocumented students have become more visible in our state, they remain underrepresented in places where decisions that affect them are being made.”

The Bee noted that Mateo came to America illegally from Oaxaca, Mexico with her parents when she was 14 years old, and graduated from Santa Clara University  law school in 2016 prior to passing the state bar exam and becoming an attorney in 2017. Both she and her parents remain in the country illegally.

While liberals who seem to prefer illegal immigrants more than American citizens will no doubt cheer this appointment, Breitbart pointed out that Ms. Mateo, despite her graduation from an American law school and job as an attorney, doesn’t appear to be a person with a patriotic love of the new country which has provided her with the opportunity to better her life.

Indeed, a Facebook post from Mateo following her graduation in 2016 featured a message in Spanish which, translated to English, reads, “And everything is dedicated to Oaxaca, Mexico!! To that land that I miss so much.”

That post also included a picture of Mateo with members of her family proudly posing behind a large Mexican flag.

Breitbart further noted that while Mateo may be the first illegal immigrant appointed to a statewide office, she is not the first illegal to be granted an official political role within the state of California.

Rather, in 2015, the Huntington Beach city council appointed two illegal immigrants to serve on city commissions, a move which sparked incredible backlash from the public.

Do you think illegal immigrants should be barred from holding any sort of political office in the U.S.?

As disconcerting as this appointment is, it is sadly not the least bit surprising, as California has increasingly been pushing hard against the U.S. government and the Trump administration in regard to immigration law and policy.

The fact that an illegal immigrant was appointed to a position in government which should be reserved for an American citizen is quite telling, and it is worth reminding folks that even as the vast majority of Americans agree that illegal immigrants should be treated humanely, they nevertheless do not enjoy the same rights and privileges as citizens.

And of course, they most certainly have no business serving in any sort of government office.

Now we just have to wait and see if this likely deliberate slap in the face of American citizens by California liberals like de León will be allowed to stand.
