Black Gay Vet Scorches Democrat Party, Reveals What Drove Him To Become Conservative
In the weeks since it began popping up on social media, many have begun to question the genesis of the #WalkAway movement. At least according to some sources, the whole thing is being driven by Russian bots (they show up so frequently!).
While one can certainly question whether or not those gosh-darn Russian bots are responsible for amplifying the #WalkAway message, the fact is that the messages themselves are certainly not Russian creations.
They show a diverse group of people who have gotten fed up with the Democrats and their messaging — and one of them in particular manages to check off all of the demographic boxes that the Democrats assumed would always be theirs.
In an appearance on “Watters’ World” on Fox News on Saturday, Rob Smith — a gay, African-American Army veteran — talked about why he decided to leave the Democrats and how coming out as a Republican was more tumultuous for him than coming out as gay.
“I didn’t lose friends when I came out as gay. I’ve lost friends since coming out as Republican,” Smith told Watters.
“People do not understand it and these are the… left, that’s supposed to be so tolerant and inclusive. These are the people who were the first to shun me when I came out as conservative.”
“I have been called everything but child of God,” he added.
“They call you a sellout and an ‘Uncle Tom.’ But why can’t I have different ideas? Why can’t I be free thinking? Why can’t I have a victor mentality?”
As for why he left, Smith says it was because of the party’s lies around what it was telling African-Americans.
“I think for me, I got so sick of the lies. What they were telling black people,” Smith said.
“When you are a black person you get messages from Democrats saying you are a victim and you need us to succeed and you need us to achieve, you need this ever-expanding welfare state to make something of yourself,” he continued.
“I got tired of it and sick of that message that it needed them, and I got sick of that message of victimhood that they continue to push to black Americans for the last three decades of my life.”
“I think Democrats use identity politics to keep people in line,” Smith said. “To keep black people in line. To keep Latinos in line. To keep gay people in line.
“I’m black and gay, and I have seen them use the same tactics for black people as they do for gay people.”
Yes, you can raise a hue and cry about the “Russian bots.” But unless Rob Smith is a very cleverly assembled android of the Muscovite variety, he is neither a bot nor Russian.
And the fact is, his story is the story of American blacks and the Democrat Party. Democrat leaders, commentators and community “activists” can ignore it it they want, but that won’t make it go away any time soon.
