Bill Maher Goes Off the Deep End, Defends Stzrok Texts in Absurd Statement
The long-awaited Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General report on the FBI’s mishandling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation was finally released to the public on Thursday.
While the report offered up plenty of examples of political bias among FBI agents and officials — some rather blatant and shocking — it stopped short of stating with certainty that the obvious biases had any effect on the ultimate outcome of the investigation.
That conclusion has been seized on by Democrats and the liberal media to summarily dismiss ample examples of bias favoring Clinton on display and opposing Donald Trump, particularly by the likes of FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI attorney Lisa Page.
According to the Washington Examiner, HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher was one of those who used the conclusion of the report to dismiss the obvious anti-Trump bias of Strzok and Page, and he did so in a rather absurd and sexist manner.
Maher focused in on reports that Strzok and Page had been conducting an extramarital affair while working on the investigation and exchanging thousands of text messages.
One particular exchange of texts that has garnered attention — since it had previously been undisclosed — was a message from Page that read, “(Trump’s) not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” followed by a reply from Strzok that declared, “No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it.”
Maher viewed that not as an admission from Strzok that he would use the powers of his position to try and prevent Trump from becoming president, but as mere virtual pillow talk between two lovers, something any man might say to impress a woman he was sleeping with.
“He was trying to impress the girl he was f***ing! That’s all it was!” Maher proclaimed on Friday’s program. “She is saying, ‘Oh my God! Is Trump going to be president?’ He says, ‘No, I’m Captain Save-A-Hoe … and I will stop it, baby!’”
Aside from being a rather absurd and pathetic excuse to try and clear Strzok, is it now OK for men to call a woman of federal law enforcement a “hoe”? Because that is exactly what Maher just did, joking or not.
Over at HotAir, the ridiculous nature of Maher’s defense of Strzok’s “We’ll stop it” remark was exposed via the addition of a little thing known as “context.”
True, viewed by itself, Strzok’s remark could be dismissed as nothing more than a man attempting to impress a woman, but Strzok’s comment was not made in isolation.
When viewed in the context of the plethora of other text messages which revealed Strzok’s deep animosity and anti-Trump bias — along with other known facts of the case –the comment takes on a whole new meaning.
Indeed, given the totality of what we now know, there is no way the “we’ll stop it” remark can be construed as anything other than a reference to FBI efforts to prevent Trump from becoming president.
Considering the staunch opposition to Trump exhibited by many on the left, including Maher himself, one must wonder why they are rushing to defend or excuse away the implicit anti-Trump bias of folks like Strzok, Page and other FBI officials.
One would think they would proudly encourage Trump-hating federal agents like Strzok to use whatever means available to them to “stop” Trump as part of the #Resistance.
That, in and of itself, tells us that many on the left know that they are wrong, as are biased and corrupt FBI agents like Strzok … otherwise they wouldn’t defend and dismiss their anti-Trump actions and would instead herald them from the highest rooftop, or premium cable TV show.
