Bible Survives Horrible Christmas Week Fire That Destroyed Home

Share

The Christmas season might be “the “most wonderful time of the year,” but that doesn’t mean disaster can’t strike.

That hit home for a Texas man on Friday, but even amid his loss, an amazing thing happened.

Fox News reported that Charles House, of the east-central town of Tyler, had converted a storage unit into a small house and was living there. Just days after Christmas, he awoke to the smell of smoke and was able to escape before the entire place was consumed by fire.

It looked like he lost everything. But to his amazement, he found that something had miraculously survived the flames: His Bible.

In an interview with the local news station KLTV, House shared what happened.

“He said His word would not perish, and the Bible did not burn,” House told the station. “It was scorched, but it did not burn.”

The Daily Wire called the incident a “Christmas miracle,” and wrote that House also said, “You can take it away, but you can never stop His word. I’m a witness to that right now.

“Seeing that Bible, in the middle of that fire … it didn’t burn that Bible.”

The Christmas week story was picked up by newscasts around the country.

Currently, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to help the disabled House recover from his loss. More than $5,000 has been raised so far.

Social media is filled with other stories of other Bibles somehow surviving fires. A few examples are below:

Earlier in December, something similar to what happened to House happened in California. Pastor Brandon Merrick of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Paradise, California, shared a photo on Facebook of the church’s cross that survived the wildfire, despite everything around it being devastated.

His message with the photo was lengthy and full of faith.

Do you believe in miracles?

It also included these poignant words, “For me, this picture is not just a heartbreaking reminder of what can happen to the things and people of this world, this is our one true hope in the midst of tragedy that cannot be destroyed by anything. God is with us.”

Such things, as tragic as they are, also shine a light in the darkness. For those who witness or experience these miracles, it is a testament that, much like in the story of Pandora’s box, despite all the bad let loose in the world, something good exists, too.

It’s called “hope.”
