AOC Blasted with Massive Billboard over Time Square for Amazon Deal

Share

She is still defending her opinion and what she claims was a victory.

But New York’s Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is simultaneously taking fire for those very things.

The hits have come following Ocasio-Cortez celebrating the news that the business giant Amazon was pulling out of a deal to set up shop in New York. The sudden reversal cost the city thousands of jobs and billions in future revenue, but Ocasio-Cortez billed it as a win for the common citizen.

Now, the Job Creator’s Network has put up a billboard right in Times Square so New Yorkers — and countelss tourists visiting the city — are aware of Ocasio-Cortez’s “accomplishment.”

The network  “is a nonpartisan organization founded by entrepreneurs like The Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus who believe that many government policies are getting in the way of the economic freedom that helped make this country prosperous,” according to its website.

Do you believe New Yorkers will begin to turn on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?

The billboard reads, “25,000 lost NYC jobs. $4 billion in lost wages. $12 billion in lost economic activity for New York. Thanks for nothing AOC!”

The group also issued a news release hitting hard at socialism and Ocasio-Cortez.

“The Amazon pullout is a perfect example of what we’ve been saying: socialism takes and capitalism creates. The economic consequences of Amazon’s pullout is just a small taste of the harm that is to come if Ocasio-Cortez’s anti-business canon comes to fruition and is made federal policy,” Job Creators Network President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz said in the release.

Some members of Ocasio-Cortez’s own party have also fired on her for her support of the Amazon pullout.

Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio ripped into Ocasio-Cortez and fellow progressives who think “it’s a good idea to lose jobs and revenue,” the New York Post reported.

Democratic New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney also lashed out about the situation while on CNN. Of special note is the fact that the jobs lost would have been in Maloney’s district, not Ocasio-Cortez’s.

“We should be really diversifying our base of taxes, our base of businesses, we’re too dependent on financial services,” Maloney said. “And it used to be that we would protest wars, now we’re protesting jobs?

“If this had gone through, it would have made overnight New York City the high-tech capital of the East Coast,” Maloney said.

She also made it clear that she was a progressive but “pragmatic” in her support of jobs and revenue.

So now there is in-fighting among progressive Democrats in New York. Some want jobs and revenue for New Yorkers and some do not. Which do you think New Yorkers will believe care more about them?

As popular as Ocasio-Cortez may be among the American left, the public hits, from her own party, cannot be doing her much good, particularly in her home state.

She is roughly two months into her freshmen term as a member of Congress and has already managed to rile up members of her own party.

Where will New Yorkers fall when picking sides in the battle?

They have supported progressives, but those tended to be the kind like de Blasio and Maloney who support jobs and revenue. Losing out on that potential prosperity could begin to turn the tide against Ocasio-Cortez, and the Job Creator’s Network is just one more, very public reminder, of what is at stake when it comes to socialist politics.
