Alyssa Milano Steps Away from Feminism To Show Support for Biden, Turns Out Feminists Aren't Happy

Share

Actress and #MeToo activist Alyssa Milano has upset many of her fellow feminists with her defense of former Vice President Joe Biden, who has been accused of inappropriately touching multiple women.

On Friday, Lucy Flores, a former Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor in Nevada, went public with allegations about Biden in a column for The Cut.

Flores described a 2014 campaign event in which Biden came up behind her, nuzzled her, sniffed her hair and kissed her on the back of her head — all without her consent.

On Monday, former Democrat congressional aide Amy Lappos came out with similar allegations against Biden, saying he put his hand around her neck and pulled her toward him to rub noses at a 2009 fundraiser.

The women’s allegations came in the wake of many images and videos of Biden touching and kissing other women and girls.

Milano, however, disregarded the left’s “believe all women” mantra and defended the former vice president on Twitter.

“I am proud to call Joe Biden a friend. He has been a leader and a champion on fighting violence against women for many years, and I have been fortunate to accompany him to events with survivors where he has listened to their stories, empathized with them, and comforted them,” Milano tweeted Monday, along with a photo of the two of them.

“That’s who Joe Biden is – a warm, generous individual who believes its on all of us to pay attention to women’s stories and experiences,” she said.

Should Milano retract her support for Biden?

In other words, Milano is minimizing the allegations against Biden because she has never seen him do anything wrong.

But that’s the kind of dismissive attitude many sexual assault victims have faced and the #MeToo movement purportedly is trying to change.

Milano tweeted that “we must believe women” but added that “we cannot assume all women’s experiences are the same.”

“I believe that Joe Biden’s intent has never been to make anyone uncomfortable, and that his kind, empathetic leadership is what our country needs,” she concluded.

Many feminists were upset with her stance on Biden.

Several Twitter users also brought up another great point: Milano was a fierce opponent of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he faced unsubstantiated sexual misconduct allegations during his confirmation hearings.

Milano, with the rest of Hollywood, was hell-bent on ensuring Kavanaugh wasn’t confirmed, but the accusations levied against Kavanaugh were far less credible than those against Biden — especially when there is video evidence of Biden’s creepy behavior.

Liberals have made it clear that they don’t believe in due process when it comes to accusations against conservatives.

For some, however — including Milano — it’s a much different story when the allegations are directed at Democrats.

It’s clear now that they aren’t earnest in their advocacy for victims of sexual misconduct, and many feminists are rightfully upset about it.
