After AOC Whips Libs into a Fury, 'Close the Camps' Protests Begin Forming
New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has fueled the flames of the border crisis for months — most recently on her trip to a facility in El Paso, Texas, where she reportedly had an emotional outburst over the conditions in which the migrants were being held.
During her visit, she claimed that female detainees were forced to drink out of toilets. Ocasio-Cortez also doubled down on her claim that children were all but being tortured, as she said they were treated like animals and the situation was “systemic cruelty.”
Now I’m on my way to Clint, where the Trump admin was denying children toothpaste and soap.
This has been horrifying so far. It is hard to understate the enormity of the problem. We’re talking systemic cruelty w/ a dehumanizing culture that treats them like animals.

Other radical Democrats and liberal entities joined her fight to demonize President Donald Trump’s administration’s handling of the influx of illegal immigrants, including the far-left organization MoveOn.org. On June 29, they launched a “#CloseTheCampsNow” protest slated to be held July 2.

The tweet provides a link to find out more information about the protests, which takes users to its website. The protest information page explained why the Democrats and liberals think the migrant holding centers, which they labeled “camps” like Ocasio-Cortez recently did, should be closed.
“Horrifically, these conditions aren’t an accident. They are the byproduct of an intentional strategy by the Trump administration to terrorize immigrant communities and criminalize immigration,” the website read.
It also accused the Trump administration of “covering up” reports of illegal immigrants who are dying in the holding centers, along with claiming that children are being “imprisoned” and being held in “inhumane conditions.”
MoveOn.org’s mission statement for the protest is short and, as expected, ridiculous. “It’s going to take all of us to close the camps,” the website read.
I wonder exactly what its participants expect to accomplish should they hypothetically have the border holding centers “shut down.” If they think children and their families are living in rough conditions now, what do they expect them to do without any resources?
Not only do they have to contend with the dangers of venturing to America — a journey that may include gang violence, drug cartels and even wildlife like large alligators prowling the Rio Grand river, they would be completely helpless and lost if they managed to make it across alive.
Sure, the holding facilities have their issues — nobody is denying that. However, illegals continue to flock by the thousands in order to get to there. Why? Because temporary discomfort in America is presumably better than the dangerous, third-world-like areas from which they come.
To say Ocasio-Cortez has exaggerated the situation and whipped liberals into a frenzy would be an understatement.
She is using the immigration issue to pounce on Trump, grab headlines and fire up her ignorant radical base of supporters.
And unfortunately, it appears to be working. As long as Ocasio-Cortez carries on with her dramatic appearances and social media videos, the liberal mainstream media will continue to bite and she’ll continue to push the narrative for political gain.
MoveOn.Org is exploiting and capitalizing on the border debacle. The group will undoubtedly raise money, snag a few headlines and continue to push protest attempts as America gets closer to the 2020 presidential election.
If Democrats, especially radicals such as Ocasio-Cortez, were truly concerned with the well-being of detained illegal immigrants and the border crisis overall, they would be working with Trump and Congress to come up with solutions.
But obviously, that wouldn’t be nearly as fun for them.
