Complete Miracle: Cat Found Frozen Stiff in Snow Bank Lives To See Another Day

Share

We all know that cats supposedly have nine lives. If that’s true, it’s a fortunate feature of feline existence.

Because let’s face it, cats can get into some pretty curious scrapes. That goes double for furry friends who spend a lot of time outdoors.

But one kitty in Kalispell, Montana, has become a social media sensation for a miraculous reason. Her rescuers are “paws-itively” amazed at her fighting spirit.

This resilient feline’s name is Fluffy, and according to local CBS affiliate KPAX-TV, she’s fortunate to be alive.

The Animal Clinic of Kalispell treated Fluffy and outlined her predicament on their Facebook page. It seems the cat’s owner is one of their clients.

Do you watch your pets closely while they are outside in the winter?

The clinic is run by Dr. Jevon Clark. Staffers explained that Fluffy’s alarmed humans recently discovered her nearly buried in a deep drift of snow.

“She’s crouched down looking like she’s hunting something, or something’s in the snow bank,” Clark said. “And then they realized, oh my gosh, she’s not moving.”

Clark noted that 3-year-old Fluffy has been an outdoor cat much of her life. He speculates that something upsetting may have caused the cat to curl up in place.

“Either something fell on her, or she fell, or something chased her and she got injured. … She couldn’t get back to her normal little hiding spots that she goes to,” Clark said.

The upshot? When Fluffy was frantically rushed in for emergency intervention, she was almost completely frozen.

The unresponsive feline was also covered head-to-toe in clumps of snow. The Associated Press reported that initially, Fluffy’s body temperature wouldn’t even register on clinic thermometers.

So the skilled team swaddled their ailing patient in soft towels. They also brought in cage warmers and attempted to revive Fluffy with intravenous fluids.

According to KPAX-TV, Dr. China Corum showered her kitty charge with tender loving care for several consecutive hours. Then, remarkably, Fluffy began to rally.

Being somewhat of a surly girl, the cat let out a few soft growls as her first sign of recuperation. “These crabby cats are survivors,” Clark said.

“Her temperature was very low, but after many hours she recovered and is now completely normal,” the clinic wrote on Facebook. “Fluffy is amazing!”

Staffers also shared several incredible photos of Fluffy. One shows a cat almost completely obscured by huge snowballs stuck in her fur.

It’s a great reminder to watch pets closely whenever they’re playing outdoors in the winter months. Fortunately, everyone can now celebrate the fact that Fluffy the feline is her feisty, adorable self once again.
