CNN Stokes Absurd 'Colonialism' Controversy over Melania's Africa Safari Outfit

Share

CNN is once again proving that the left can be outraged about anything. This time, they are going after first lady Melania Trump’s hat.

The first lady began her trip to Africa on Monday, and she intended to focus on healthcare, education, and conservation.

“This is a diplomatic and humanitarian visit, which will include stops focusing on healthcare, education, conservation and tourism. As with all that the first lady does, the well-being of children will be a focus at most of the stops,” Stephanie Grisham, Trump’s communications director, told CNN.

Instead of focusing their efforts on the first lady’s humanitarian pursuits, the left has decided to express outrage over her attire.

A CNN article on Saturday claimed that a hat Trump wore in Kenya symbolized “white colonialist rule.”

CNN implied that Trump’s decision to wear that hat may have been to intentionally offend Africans.

“It’s unclear if Trump was aware of the meaning,” the article read.

I think it’s pretty clear that Trump wasn’t aware of any supposed “meaning” behind her hat.

It’s a classic sun hat that has a practical purpose. Trump used it to block the hot African sun in addition to matching it with her white top.

Did CNN blow this out of proportion?

The left also found a way to criticize Trump for helping orphans and feeding baby elephants, of all things.

“Melania completes the stereotype trifecta–elephants, orphans and even the pith helmet,” college professor Matt Carotenuto said on Twitter.

It’s touching that the white professor found a way to be offended for Africans from his ivory tower, but those orphans don’t seem to be as offended as he is.

In fact, the orphans seem to be enjoying their time with the first lady.

If that wasn’t enough, white liberals have also gone after Trump for her choice of boots.

“I see Melania went with the ‘perpetrator of a colonial massacre’ boot choice. Tres chic,” one liberal wrote on Twitter.

This isn’t anything new from the left. They’re used to manufacturing pointless controversy surrounding Trump’s attire.

Previously, Trump was criticized for an outfit she wore while visiting immigrant children.

Every time the first lady does something commendable, the left spins it into something else.

It doesn’t matter if Melania Trump is spending time with African orphans or visiting immigrants, the left will find a way to turn it into an absurd controversy.
