Ben Shapiro Excoriates Bernie Sanders over His America 'Starves Little Children' Interview
On the premiere episode of “The Ben Shapiro Election Special” on Sunday, the eponymous political commentator Ben Shapiro slammed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for his ignorant comments about world poverty.
Shapiro began his Fox News segment by bringing attention to the comments made by “loonbag” Sanders on comedian Sarah Silverman’s “I Love You, America” series.
In Silverman’s interview, Sanders mentioned that he’s not able to use “dirty words” in the U.S. Senate.
Of course, Silverman was upset to hear that she couldn’t use dirty words because she’s used to offensive and disgusting comedy.
The Vermont independent senator then went on to make an extremely ignorant and shocking statement about poverty and U.S. foreign policy.
“We just starve little children, we go bomb houses and buses of children and we give tax breaks to billionaires but we don’t use dirty words,” Sanders said.
Shapiro said Sanders’ ignorant statement is important because it shows the serious gap between what the hard left thinks of America versus the rest of America thinks.
“The hard left believes America is an evil, awful place founded in racism, sexism, bigotry, homophobia…,” Shapiro said.
Shapiro flatly rejected the left’s view of America. “This is all absolutely wrong.”
Shapiro made it clear that the United States has achieved “precisely the opposite” of what Sanders said.
Citing data from the World Bank, Shapiro proved that extreme poverty around the world has decreased over the past three decades — thanks to a global economy led by American economic strength.
“Literally hundreds of millions of people have been lifted from poverty by the power of the American economy and its involvement in the world economy,” Shapiro said.
This data is in complete contrast to Sanders’ false statements about America starving little children.
Shapiro also addressed Sanders’ claims about America bombing the homes and buses of children.
“The American fighting men and women have been more humane in their pursuit of liberty for others than any other fighting force in human history, and the world has trended toward democracy and freedom because of it,” Shapiro said.
Shapiro said he also suspects that Sanders, the self-described democratic socialist, might be bitter about America defeating communism in the Cold War.
It’s not unusual for Sanders to make hyperbolic or outright false statements, but it’s definitely entertaining watching Shapiro rip him to shreds.
