Behar at It Again After Pence Fiasco. Now Targeting Melania for Being 'Birther'

Share

Many liberal celebrities derive pleasure from mocking and attacking President Donald Trump, his family and his supporters, but one who seems positively gleeful in doing so is Joy Behar, one of the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View.”

According to The Daily Caller, the media-obsessed Stormy Daniels controversy was a topic of discussion on Wednesday’s program, and nearly all of the co-hosts expressed their sympathy for the first lady as it is likely painful for her to have this alleged affair constantly featured front-and-center and pushed heavily by the media.

Except for Behar, who stated, “We can’t really like her 100 percent because she is a birther like her husband. I interviewed her on my HLN show and we made news on that because I asked her, ‘Do you think Obama was born in this country?’”

Behar added that Melania claimed former President Barack Obama “was not born in this country.”

“She’s on the same page as (Trump) on a lot of issues, so she’s not off the hook,” Behar continued.

Surprisingly, co-host Whoopi Goldberg seemed to come to the defense of the first lady — while at the same time taking a shot at the president — when she stated to end the discussion, “This is not about (Trump’s) personal life. What we are talking about here is that a porn star has more credibility than the United States of America president.”

The interview referenced by Behar occurred in 2011 when the “birther” issue about Obama’s citizenship was an issue Trump expressed great interest in at the time.

Melania stated in that interview, “It’s not only Donald who wants to see (Obama’s birth certificate). It’s American people who voted for him and who didn’t vote for him. They want to see that.”

When Behar noted that Obama had released a long form certificate of live birth, Melania had replied, “We feel it’s different than a birth certificate.”

Do you think Joy Behar has gone too far in leveling attacks against Melania Trump?

According to Lifezette, Fox News host Laura Ingraham took issue with Behar’s unsympathetic attack on the first lady and proclaimed on her show Wednesday evening, “Joy Behar is like a firehose of left-wing nonsense that you can’t shut off.”

“In Joy’s twisted view, expressing political views in the past prevents you from getting an ounce of empathy in the present,” stated Ingraham. “This is political hatred by association.”

“If you want to hit people on their public policy pronouncements, Joy, have at it,” she added. “But to crucify them for their last name is neither fair nor joyful.”

Ironically, Behar’s refusal to feel sympathy for the first lady in light of the Stormy Daniels controversy utterly contradicted a comment Behar had made less than a year ago, according to Fox News.

During an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Myers” in June 2017, Behar had stated of the first lady, “But I feel sorry for her. She had to sleep with (Trump) once. At least once she did.”

“And then when she was in New York and we had to pay a million dollars a day to keep her here because she doesn’t want to sleep with him, we have to pay for that. I didn’t like that,” she added in reference to the first lady remaining in New York after Trump had been elected in order to allow their young son Barron to finish that year of school without interruption prior to moving into the White House.

Of course, Behar will attempt to avoid any criticism for either of those contradictory and snarky remarks by hiding behind the vestige of her being an alleged comedienne.

Except that spiteful attacks on the family members and imagined sex lives of political opponents isn’t exactly funny, and Behar should keep her disgusting verbal assaults confined to the president himself, and not launch attacks aimed at his wife or children.
