Robert Bowers, 46, died Tuesday at University Medical Center in New Orleans, according to the Ponchatoula Police Department in Louisiana.

He suffered injuries in an altercation that took place early Sunday morning at the Ponchatoula Pub in Ponchatoula, about 50 miles northwest of New Orleans.

“In the early morning of November 4, 2018, an altercation involving multiple individuals took place inside of the Ponchatoula Pub. This altercation led to Robert Bowers being struck by two individuals identified as Azia Crockett and Ryan Anthony,” the Ponchatoula Police Department said.

“Bowers became unconscious and began receiving immediate medical attention from a Ponchatoula Volunteer Fireman until Acadian Ambulance arrived on the scene,” the police department said. “Bowers was transported to North Oaks Medical Center and then later transported to University Medical Center where he remained on life support until he lost his life on November 6, 2018.”

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Lavrisson provided some details on altercation to The Advocate in Baton Rouge.

“Anthony struck Bowers in the head, knocked him unconscious,” Layrisson said. “He went to the ground and Azia Crockett punched him multiple times, as well.”

Crockett and Anthony turned themselves in to Ponchatoula police.

They were arrested on charges of felony manslaughter and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, according to police.

The incident occurred after the game between No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 LSU at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. The Crimson Tide won 29-0.

Bowers was an Alabama fan, while the two suspects are LSU fans, the police chief told The Advocate.
