'It's Insanity': 'Morning Joe' Panel Rages Against 'White Elitist' Democrats Pushing Far-Left Ideology

Share

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” panelists on Monday raged against the “white elitist” members of the Democratic Party for pushing a far-left ideology that does not resonate with the majority of the U.S.

Co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Al Sharpton agreed that the majority of America, including black and Latino voters, do not support biological males competing in women’s sports, witnessing students protesting the Israel-Gaza war on college campuses, defunding the police or claiming the country is an evil place.

Scarborough said most Americans who Democrats try to appeal to are not accepting their viewpoints on the country.

“‘We’re going to save you, black and Hispanic people of America, a lot of black and Hispanic people in America say ‘no thanks, you’re kinda wild… you’re too far-left, we believe in the American dream, we want to be part of the American dream, thanks but no thanks. Keep that in your college classes,’” Scarborough said.

“Absolutely,” Sharpton replied. “The whole goal of the civil rights movement and the movement now is to correct the system, not to overthrow the system and to make things work equally for everyone, not to just upturn everything and change everything to some undefined utopia. And these, a lot to liberals, who speak a lot for people that they don’t speak to, that want to lead people that they don’t even like, are running around trying to represent things that were never part of what we were saying.

All of us that were on the forefront of police reform never said ‘defund the police,” Sharpton said.

“And then when you come and disregard and disrespect common people that are trying to get their kids in college, and pay the tuition and student debt and loan forgiveness and you’re gonna disrupt the campus… And the woke people, I don’t know what they were woke from, because we were never asleep. They were the ones up in the ivory tower taking a nap, while we were dealing with people on the ground that have everyday problems.”

Co-host Zanny Minton Beddoes mocked the political left for “doubling down” on the unpopular positions they have taken, while Scarborough labeled their criticisms of people opposing their cultural beliefs as “insanity.”

Scarborough pointed to former University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, a man who defeated the 500 free event at the NCAA Women’s Championships by 1.75 seconds in March 2022.

“What strikes me now is yes, now people have realized elites on the left are way different from where ordinary people are. And exactly as you say, what is happening in our schools, what is happening in our schools, what is happening in our college campuses? But the question for me now is, how does that change? … I’m struck that even in the last few days there are people on the cultural left doubling down on the cultural left position,” Beddoes said.

“I don’t know, it’s your country, not my country, but when you live in London, you do sometimes come to the U.S. and think ‘What on Earth is going on here? This place has culturally gone off the reservation on the left.’”

“And so isolated, too,” Scarborough responded. “I’ve said on this show… but we were very critical about a man who is a swimmer in the Ivy League, who transitioned and swam against women and suddenly he went from like the 386th best swimmer against men to like the first against women, and I remember saying something about it at the time and people saying ‘Oh my God, how dare you say that? You’re a radical extremist.’ I said no, actually, there’s a Pew poll out that shows 85% of Americans agree with me … Suddenly [the left has] abandoned [girls] because they’re afraid they’re going to be canceled, it’s insanity.”

Beddoes said left-wing elites go along with the viewpoints and rhetoric they do not agree with to avoid being canceled or “excommunicated” by their peers, pointing to the gender-neutral term “Latinx” as an example.

“I think that fear of being canceled is what drove it, there was a sense among many, many in the sort of liberal elite… to be worried about saying anything: for fear of being excommunicated, for fear of being canceled. And so people would go along with things that they knew were nuts. I mean, Latinx, what on Earth is Latinx?… No Latino person used the term Latinx,” Beddoes said.

Scarborough said the majority of black and Hispanic voters disagree with the left’s position that the U.S. is a racist country, likely leading them to leave the Democratic Party in historic droves.

Trump made major inroads with men in those key voter blocs in the 2024 election, earning 55% of the Latino vote, according to an NBC News exit poll.
