Watch: Sarah Sanders' Most Brutal Roasts Prove She Was One-of-a-Kind

Share

You may not be surprised to learn that reactions to Sarah Sanders’ departure from her position as White House press secretary vary.

“After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas,” President Trump tweeted.

“She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”

A few other reactions weren’t so complementary.

“Sarah Sanders was the disdainful Queen of Gaslighting,” a headline from The Washington Post reads. (Note to headliners and political copywriters everywhere: “Gaslighting” is so 2017.)

“I have to say I will not miss her,” former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe said. (Compliment? Perhaps.)

“Highlights of Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s Career of Deflection,” a New York Magazine headline says. (The fact that they use the apostrophe-s possessive after an S is just another reason to dislike New York Magazine.)

So, yes, they may have had their fun. But PragerU may have had the last laugh, putting together a compendium of Sanders’ greatest hits. (Well, at least five of them, because you should keep lists to a nice, round number.)

5 Times Sarah Sanders Roasted the Fake News Media

?? Don’t mess with Sarah Sanders. Here are 5 moments the outgoing press secretary roasted the fake news media.

It’s interesting to note how many of these are CNN getting owned. But, these things certainly happen. And it’s even better when it’s Chris Cuomo and Jim Acosta looking the fool.

And this is why the media is now saying that she should become a non-person.

As Dan Gainor noted over at Fox News, journalist Laura Bassett responded to Sanders’ resignation by saying: “I don’t know who needs to hear this but you do not need to hire Sarah Sanders as a cable news commentator or politics editor.”

Public Citizen, Ralph Nader’s baby, was more didactic: “Cable News networks, repeat after me: I will not hire Sarah Sanders.”

“This form of total media war will hardly be new to Sanders,” Gainor wrote. “Daily Beast and GQ magazine Culture Writer Ira Madison III began her tenure blasting Sanders’ looks on Twitter, calling her a ‘Butch queen first time in drags at the ball.’ He gave a lame apology but that was the tone for two years in a job where even an obscure restaurant refused to serve her.

“Journalists’ hatred for Trump ricocheted onto Sanders throughout her time in the job. Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin urged people to give Sanders a ‘life sentence’ of harassment. Rubin bizarrely declared that Sanders ‘has no right to live a life of no fuss, no muss.’ Rubin even claimed the press secretary had been ‘inciting against the press.’

“MSNBC host Nicole Wallace banned clips of Sanders on her show. Of course, Wallace also asked White House correspondent Kristen Welker, ‘how do you resist the temptation to run up and wring her neck?’ Another lame apology followed.”

Do you think Sarah Sanders did a good job as press secretary?

So, who will end up being the new press secretary?

“One Trump World source, speaking on condition of anonymity, described deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley as the ‘likely pick’ to replace Sanders,” the Washington Examiner reported Thursday.

“But Trump might also look to Tony Sayegh, a Treasury Department spokesman who this Republican operative said might be the ‘best pick.’ Other options the president might consider include Morgan Ortagus, a spokeswoman at the State Department, and Stephanie Grisham, a spokeswoman for first lady Melania Trump, the source said.”

The media may try to mete out a lifetime deplatforming for Sarah Sanders. That’s going to be very hard to do.
