Smug Pro-Abortion Tweet Backfires Spectacularly as 13,000 Replies Roll In

Share

In the wake of Alabama’s major stand against abortion earlier this week, leftists have been hard at work trying to undermine the decision and its supporters.

Twitter has been a hotbed for much of this firestorm, with users arguing both for and against the move. And while most were able to keep from insulting people on the other side, some seemingly couldn’t help themselves.

Writer Sarah Tuttle-Singer was one of those few, tweeting, “Dear Pro-Life friends: what have you *personally* done to support lower income single mothers?”

“I’ll wait,” she added.

It’s impossible to tell what she was expecting. Maybe she hoped a few of her supporters would cheer her on for such a bold and fearless statement, or maybe she thought someone would fling another ad hominem attack right back at her.

In all likelihood, both would be perfect material for a progressive blog post.

Tuttle-Singer thankfully didn’t have to wait too long, because her tweet soon backfired spectacularly.

Have you ever done something to support a single mother?

Over 13,000 people flooded the comments section, some sharing stories about volunteering in pregnancy centers, others about how their families have chipped in to help unexpectedly pregnant mothers.

Instead of the slam dunk Tuttle-Singer may have expected, she encountered a sea of people who have been helping disadvantaged mothers and their offspring.

The original post had less than 5,000 likes as of Friday afternoon, but nearly three times that many comments. This is the brutal “ratio” practice infamous on Twitter — a healthy indicator that a post is not well received.

But Tuttle-Singer only has herself to blame for this.

She walked out a tired old pro-abortion argument — that you’re hypocritical if you’re pro-life but don’t bend over backwards to help single mothers — and got slapped with a healthy dose of reality.

Pro-lifers are not a rabid group hellbent on destroying women’s freedom.

They’re people who genuinely care that there’s more than one human life at risk during an abortion. Many even work to better the lives of mothers and children after birth.

Although Tuttle-Singer was handed a humiliating fact check by Twitter users, this argument is likely to be used again before this entire abortion debate is over.

Until then, the truth is bound to keep coming out in a devastating way.
