Conservative Group Takes Legal Action Against Bernie Sanders, Wants To Make Him 'Feel the Bern'
A conservative group filed a Federal Election Commission complaint against 2020 hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders for potentially violating the law by hiring foreign nationals to his 2016 presidential campaign.
The Coolidge Reagan Foundation alleges that Sanders hired multiple foreign nationals in 2016 to “serve in advisory campaign positions,” which would allow them to directly or indirectly participate in the campaign’s decision-making processes.
The group also asserts that Sanders accepted 10 individual donations from foreign national Maria Belén Sisa.
To top it all off, Sanders is allegedly continuing his illegal activity with his 2020 campaign by rehiring Sisa to serve as the campaign’s “deputy press secretary.”
FEC guidelines prohibit foreign nationals from making any “contribution or donation to any committee or organization of any national, state, district, or local political party.”
Foreign nationals are also prohibited from “directing, dictating, controlling, or directly or indirectly participating in the decision-making process of any person … with regard to any election-related activities.”
The Coolidge Reagan Foundation also pointed out Sanders’ hypocrisy for his obsession with the dubious Russian collusion story that’s been used to harass President Donald Trump.
“Bernie Sanders is obsessed with the ‘Russian collusion’ and ‘foreign interference’ narratives, and yet he allows foreign nationals to influence our elections for his personal benefit — in direct violation of the law,” the group said.
“It’s time for Americans to hold him accountable, and for the FEC to make him ‘feel the bern’ for breaking the law.”
Sanders isn’t the only crazy socialist against whom the group filed a complaint. Late last month, the group alleged that far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also violated FEC guidelines.
The Coolidge Reagan Foundation alleged that Ocasio-Cortez used a PAC as an intermediary to pay her boyfriend $6,000.
Dan Backer, the attorney who filed the foundation’s complaint against Ocasio-Cortez, told Fox News “it appears that they created some sort of scheme to avoid claiming the money (as a campaign expense).”
It’s important to note that the complaints against both Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez are only allegations so far, no matter how credible the allegations seem.
But it’s poetic justice that Democrats are finally facing their own investigations and potential legal troubles after the countless frivolous investigations against Trump.
If the allegations against Sanders are true, it would prove that leftists were never concerned about influence from “foreign nationals” — liberals just wanted a juicy story with which to endlessly attack Trump.
Even if the FEC lets Sanders off the hook, he’s probably “feeling the Bern” from this complaint already.
