Lisa Page's Testimony Finally Released and It Confirms Exactly What We Said

Share

A transcript of former FBI lawyer Lisa Page’s private testimony released this week confirms that former President Barack Obama’s Justice Department had basically made it impossible for the FBI to truly investigate Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, the FBI investigated Clinton’s use of a private email server during her entire tenure as Obama’s secretary of state, when she handled classified information for four years on a computer system outside the government’s considerable security measures.

In July 2016, then-FBI Director James Comey cleared Clinton of all charges but described her behavior as “extremely careless.”

The decision was shocking, and indefensible to anyone who’d been paying attention.

As it turns out, though — as first reported Feb. 25 by the New York-based Epoch Times and passed along in the Conservative Tribune — Obama’s Department of Justice had determined one outcome of the FBI’s investigation before it was completed, according to Page’s July 2018 testimony before a joint task force of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees.

The transcript of Page’s testimony released Tuesday, as reported by the Washington Examiner, confirms that Page told lawmakers that the FBI had “multiple conversations with the Justice Department about charging gross negligence.”

But the department wasn’t interested in pursuing it.

“The Justice Department’s assessment was that it was both constitutionally vague, so that they did not actually feel that they could permissibly bring that charge,” Page said.

Do you think the Justice Department was protecting Hillary Clinton?

“We had multiple conversations with the Justice Department about bringing a gross negligence charge. And that’s, as I said, the advice that we got from the Department was that they did not think — that it was constitutionally vague and not sustainable.”

Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe of Texas asked Page to clarify if the DOJ told her:

“You’re not going to charge gross negligence because we’re the prosecutors and we’re telling you we’re not going to.”

“That’s correct,” Page responded.

It’s good that we finally have confirmation that the DOJ refused to address Clinton’s crimes, but it has been clear for some time that the outcome of the FBI’s investigation had been predetermined — and that Clinton was going to get off.

There is no way that Clinton was innocent after the way she handled her emails, but Obama and his attorney general, Loretta Lynch, seemed intent on protecting Clinton.

In response to the newly released transcript, President Donald Trump published a perfect “told you so” tweet on Wednesday morning.

“The just revealed FBI Agent Lisa Page transcripts make the Obama Justice Department look exactly like it was, a broken and corrupt machine. Hopefully, justice will finally be served. Much more to come!”

Trump — and conservative media outlet — have argued since before the 2016 election that the Clinton investigation was never aimng for a serious prosecution. Now, the Page transcript confirms it.

Obama’s Justice Department was broken and corrupt. Now, not even Democrats can deny it.
