Police Catch Illegal Immigrant Suspected Cop Killer

Share

A police officer in California was gunned down Wednesday during a routine traffic stop for a suspected case of driving under the influence, and a massive manhunt was launched shortly thereafter to track down and apprehend the alleged cop killer.

While the manhunt was still ongoing, it was revealed by authorities that the suspect was an illegal immigrant, and though his name was not released to the public, his picture was spread far and wide on social media and by some — though not all — mainstream media outlets.

Fox News reported on Friday that after a two-day manhunt for the suspected cop killer, police now believe they have the wanted fugitive in custody.

The suspect has been tentatively identified by the Stanislaus County Sheriff as Gustavo Perez Arriaga — a Mexican national with ties to a well-known Mexican-American street gang — though authorities have cautioned that the man has several aliases and it remains unclear which of his many names is real.

Some of the pictures circulated of the suspect revealed tattoos which indicated an affiliation with the “Sureños” — Spanish for “southerners” — group of street gangs, which in turn has an affiliation with the violent California-based “Mexican Mafia” prison gang.

The Southern California-based Sureños gangs stand accused of engaging in cross-border drug and human smuggling operations and numerous murders, among other crimes.

Though the Stanislaus County Sheriff took the lead in the case, they were joined in the effort to apprehend the suspected cop killer by several other law enforcement agencies, such as the Newman Police Department — the locale where the murder of the officer occurred — as well as the Fresno County and Kern County Sheriffs, and likely other local, state and federal agencies to some extent as well.

On Wednesday, the day after Christmas, the suspect was stopped by Newman Police Cpl. Ronil Singh on suspicion of driving under the influence. Unfortunately, that routine stop turned into a shootout and Singh was mortally wounded while the suspect got away.

Singh was a legal immigrant from Fiji who had joined the police force in 2011 and served proudly ever since. He was well-liked by his colleagues and chief, and sadly left behind a wife and 5-month-old daughter.

“He came to this country with one purpose, and that was to serve this country,” said Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson.

On Thursday, while the manhunt was still ongoing, Richardson had publicly pleaded for the suspect to turn himself in, and said of Singh, “A coward took his life. We need closure. His family needs closure.”

Also on Thursday, the Stanislaus County Sheriffs Office had announced that they had taken custody of the truck believed to belong to the suspect, and also hinted that they had learned his identity, though they refrained from releasing the name out of an abundance of caution due to the aforementioned several aliases and fear that a released name could implicate innocent individuals with similar names.

Adding to the confusion over the suspect’s actual name was the fact that he appeared to have no less than five separate Facebook accounts, each with a different alias but all interconnected and all featuring pictures of himself, some of which showed him posing with firearms, showing off his gang-related tattoos or flashing suspected gang signs.

Regardless of what the suspected cop killer’s actual name turns out to be, one thing that is clear is that he was in the country illegally and never should have been here to commit the murder he is alleged to have committed.

Odds are, we will eventually find out that this illegal immigrant had a lengthy rap sheet with a number of prior run-ins with the law, criminal acts which should have resulted in his being locked up or deported, but which instead resulted in a slap on the wrist and release back onto the streets due to California’s absurd “sanctuary” laws that prohibit local law enforcement agencies from working with federal immigration officials.

Sadly, a legal immigrant that came to America the right way and sought to serve his new nation by upholding the rule of law has been murdered by a lawless criminal who came into the country the wrong way and has worked to undermine this nation’s rule of law … only to be protected in his criminality by despicable Democrat policies.
