Democratic Talking-Point Parroting Goes Wrong as Pelosi and Schumer Publish Identical Messages

Share

Democrats are finally beginning to learn about consistency, but they’re taking it a bit too far by tweeting out the same talking points, word for word.

Nobody expects Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer or incoming House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi to write their own tweets because they can hire somebody to write them instead. But top Democrats could at least refrain from plagiarism.

On Christmas Eve, Schumer published a tweet attacking President Donald Trump for criticizing the Federal Reserve and seeking a replacement for Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis.

“It’s Christmas Eve and President @realDonaldTrump is plunging the country into chaos. The stock market is tanking and the President is waging a personal war on the Federal Reserve—after he just fired the Secretary of Defense,” Schumer wrote.

Only 23 minutes later, Pelosi published the exact same tweet — on her own account.

Do you think liberals have trouble thinking for themselves?

Schumer’s tweet came out first, but that doesn’t mean Pelosi or her staff copied him word for word. More likely, it’s the kind of talking point Democrats keep handy to shoot out on short notice, and claim authorship no matter who wrote it. If nothing else, it shows the Democrats plagiarizing each other.

But this bizarre Twitter incident opens up a can of worms about Democratic rhetoric.

One cannot help but wonder how much of the left’s tweets, speeches, and news releases are manufactured from the same source.

Typically, you would expect politicians to have a great deal of autonomy in their policy-making decisions, despite belonging to a political party.

For example, the Republican Party has a wide range of opinions and beliefs, as evident from the stark differences between Republican lawmakers like Sen. Rand Paul and Sen. Lindsey Graham.

On the other side of the table, Democrats have been completely united in their opposition to President Donald Trump — and their slavish devotion to Democratic identity politics.

Considering the left’s coordinated attacks on Trump and previous attacks on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to find out that Democrats are going off the same scripted talking points.

Democrats become enraged when “moderate” Democrats like Sen. Joe Manchin deviate from the script.

But it might be for the best that some Democrats, like Pelosi, have prepared talking points.

When Pelosi attempts to form original thoughts, it doesn’t work out very well.

It’s a bit concerning that Democrats need to use the same talking points to get their ideas across. Lawmakers should be smart enough to think for themselves.
