You're Fired: CNN Cans Marc Lamont Hill After UN Speech Calling for Israel's Destruction

Share

Liberal CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill is out of a job, and he only has his own mouth to blame.

On Thursday afternoon, the left-leaning network announced that Hill has been released from his contract after he seemingly called for Israel to be eliminated from the Middle East, according to Fox News.

On Wednesday, Hill gave a speech at a United Nations event meant to observe an “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.”

Sympathizing with the Palestinian people in that chaotic part of the world is one thing. Endorsing enemies who want to wipe Israel off the map is something else entirely.

“The speech argued for boycotting Israel; warned against shaming Palestinians for engaging in violent ‘resistance’; and urged grassroots, local, and international action to ‘Give us what justice requires — and that is a free Palestine from the river to the sea,'” wrote Philip Klein at the Washington Examiner.

Those last words are what drew the most negative attention and heavy criticism of the CNN contributor.

“The phrase, ‘from the river to the sea,’ means expanding a Palestinian state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, and it is a term that the terrorist group Hamas has used as a rallying cry for decades,” Klein explained.

Do you think Hill should have been fired for this?

“Establishing a Palestinian state from the river to the sea would require the destruction of Israel, which is located in between those two bodies of water and is home to 44 percent of the world’s Jews.”

In other words, it’s almost impossible to ignore the anti-Semitic undertones of Hill’s speech. It doesn’t help his case that he’s made a series of strange, anti-Israel statements.

Last year, for instance, he seemed to endorse Palestinian terrorism, and bizarrely attacked President Trump for speaking out against terrorism.

“Trump’s position on Israel/Palestine is repugnant,” the then-CNN contributor posted on his official Twitter account. “His call for Palestine to ‘reject hatred and terrorism’ is offensive & counterproductive.”

During a 2015 trip to Israel, Hill also denied that he was in that country but insisted on calling it Palestine. “We come to a land that has been stolen by greed and destroyed by hate,” he said in a video clearly meant to criticize Israeli Jews.

Jewish leaders have raised alarms about Hill after his U.N. speech.

“The virulent anti-Semitism spewed by Marc Lamont Hill is abhorrent, and his senseless promotion of violence against Israel is repugnant,” the National Council of Young Israel stated on Wednesday. The Anti-Defamation League also voiced its disapproval of the contributor.

It seems CNN finally listened. “Marc Lamont Hill is no longer under contract with CNN,” the network said in a statement.

Once again, a supposedly “tolerant” and “inclusive” liberal has shown his true colors.

If outlets like CNN claim to stand for equality over hatred, bigotry, and violence, they need to start in their own newsrooms.
