Remember When Obama Booted Guest from the WH and the Press Didn't Care?

Share

If there is one thing that can be counted on from the establishment media, it is bashing President Donald Trump.

Another thing is their raging hypocrisy.

Case in point: The meltdown over CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s “hard pass” being taken from him.

The action took place following an altercation between Acosta and an intern who was doing her job to take the microphone away from him when it was someone else’s turn to ask questions.

The attacks on Trump for that incident ranged from claims the White House shared a doctored video to cries that the president was stifling the press.

The Acosta brouhaha calls to mind a similar incident involving Trump’s predecessor.

It wasn’t a reporter shouting questions out of turn during a news conference, but President Barack Obama was confronted by an activist at an LGBT Pride Month event in 2015.

The 44th president was much less patient than Trump was with Acosta.

Transgender activist Jennicet Gutiérrez shouted his demand that Obama stop deporting LGBT illegal immigrants, The New York Times reported.

Obama quickly shut down Gutiérrez, saying, “Listen, you’re in my house.”

“You’re not going to — you’re not going to get a good response from me by interrupting me like this. … No, no, no, no. No, no. No,” he said. “Shame on you. You shouldn’t be doing this.”

The audience shouted its approval and chanted, “Obama! Obama! Obama!”

“Can we escort this person out?” Obama said. “Come on.”

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that mainstream media coverage of his actions was positive, with just about every outlet labeling Gutiérrez as a “heckler.”

CNN’s headline was typical: “Obama to White House heckler: ‘You’re in my house!’

Can you imagine the establishment media’s reaction if Trump, instead of Obama, had kicked out a transgender activist?

Did Jim Acosta deserve to have his White House press credentials revoked?

But it wasn’t just activists who got shut down by former president.

In 2012, Neil Munro, a reporter for The Daily Caller, shouted questions at Obama in a way that might remind you of CNN’s Acosta. The president sharply cut him off.

Interestingly, media accounts of that incident described Munro’s question as “heckling.”

While Acosta is hailed as a First Amendment hero, Munro was painted as someone who rudely interrupted the president.

It’s just another example of the establishment media’s hypocrisy and double standards.
